Possible to stretch the waist on tropical wool?
Hi everyone!
I know with cotton pants you can stretch out the waistband with a little water or by wearing it. There’s a pair of shrunken wool trousers on ebay and I’m curious if they could be stretched to their original length

Wool can usually be re-stretched after shrinking, by soaking in cold water and stretching it gently
With trousers though, they're likely to be such a tight weave that you might risk pulling holes at weak points around the stitching and seams
I think stretching length would be a lot trickier than re-stretching the waistband imo
The length on these is fine. It’s only the waist I’m worried about
this might be worth a 40 dollar experiment, or it might be too much work, hmm
Oh I think the waist should be doable then, if it's not more than a couple of inches?
I would soak cold, stretch a bit, try them on and rinse and repeat. Just try doing it in small increments to reduce the risk
this may be a silly question but was there any extra seam allowance at the waist?
especially if these are suit trousers, they might already have an extra inch or so that can be let out
otherwise what @tun🌻 said
That would be really cool if they had any. I can't really tell though. They're old military dress trousers, and seem to be cut like a chino except in wool
I think I'm gonna go for it. It's only two inches
if you haven't yet pulled the trigger you can always ask the seller to check for you
if you've already pulled the trigger then never mind lol
