How did you get around the fact that plex is banned on Hetzner?
Interested is all. I had an account banned a while back lol.
I'm guessing gluetun is involved - but you somehow still manage to get direct connections working, where as I always ended up indirect when I tried that

Utilising forwarded ports for PIA, and exposing that as <vpn_ip>:<plex_port> in reverse proxy?
nothing that fancy
we just use gluetun on the plex pods for any egress
but any ingress comes in via the traefik LB
the ban only affects "phone home" from plex instances to HQ, and those always originate from the plex server itself, and so are carried over the VPN

why are we blocking metrics
unless you think Plex has a giant data warehouse they're using AI to mine for information about your bedroom preferences so they can blackmail you... telemetry is what the developers use to see which stuff is broken, which stuff to cut, and which stuff needs more attention. you're only hurting yourself.
not to mention, it's exponentially more expensive to store identifying information like an IP address next to your metrics than it is to aggregate them.

It always floors me when people are like "why can't we have good software on linux" but the first thing they do when they install software is open the preferences and uncheck the "Send anonymous metrics to the developers to help with software development" box.

Im not bothered about mine being stored - im always on endpoint, but the server is on hetzner which is prohibited by plex
