Men’s RTW box stores are killing me, where to find more exciting (not gauche) daily wear?
Why why why? I am in the USA south and struggle to find decent clothes off the shelf. I walked into Kohl’s (admittedly not a great store for fashion anyways) and literally 1/4 of the men section was khaki/blue slacks. Chinos and pleats.
I have been purchasing second hand Zegna slacks, helmut lang, and saint Laurent that have a little more shape to them and life.
I’m skinny and hate wearing skinny everything every day bl like clothes with a little more style to them, I know there’s only so much you can do with khakis, but the other pant options are like golf pants or suit separates and jeans.
Also, why is everything mixed with the under armor stretchy “quick dry” material? From polos to pants I can’t escape “tech” material.
Any advice for business casual or even summer casual clothes that aren’t drab stretchy crap? I’ve actually found decent stuff at Marshall’s and TJ maxx. Are there any places to find linen blends, some subtly patterned slacks or shirts that don’t scream “my dad is a lawyer, and I just played golf?”
I like having good quality clothes, I’d prefer 7 pants that last years instead of 15 that are junk. Budget up to 300 for jeans and slacks, shirts no more than 250 ish, hopefully closer to 100-150.

kamakura shirts, vintage polo ralph
If you're looking for essentials check ASKET
wythe and black ficus both come to mind
that said, given that fashion is in a weird hinge point, i think pleats or vintage trousers are an "interesting" alternative to the traditional office wear you may see

Shop second hand. eBay and thrift stores
There's a ton of second hand Ralph Lauren out there. It's decent quality, but usually a little boring.
But that's ok for basics. Khaki chinos are boring, but versatile. You probably need a couple of pairs
For summer casual, look for linen and linen blend shirts on eBay. There are lots out there.
But, yes, finding interesting clothes is challenging. There's a lot of boring crap out there.
frankly a lot of vintage clothes are more interesting than their modern counterparts, be it because of design or build or the fact the the garments have a story about them
Thanks! I can take it there!
