I need a wardrobe refresh for a wedding

Hello! The shopping world is my oyster. Where would you shop for clothes for a wedding? I need semi-casual for the welcome dinner (shirt, pants, shoes), most likely outdoors and like 80 degrees. I have a suit already but I need new shoes, ideally for both the dinner and the wedding. My feet are kind of wide. Any advice for what stores to shop at? Thanks!

What's your budget & region, and how much time do you have until the wedding?

Chicago today, then Montreal for a few days. Wedding next Saturday. Budget is around $500. Wedding is in Albany area, so I'll have a day there to shop before the welcome party. A friend recommended Macy's. Is that a good option?

is your budget $500 total? and if so are you open to shopping used? shopping threads for chicago and kinda montreal https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1247218240825065565 https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1236043211948953660 that said that isn't a lot of time or money - macys is good as are many mall brands (j.crew, banana republic, abercrombie, uniqlo) for clothes.

for shoes, i would see if you have any decent somewhat formal shoes to wear for the welcome dinner and spend a little more on the shoes for the ceremony (or just wear the same pair for both). penny loafers thread the needle here, and there's plenty of recs in the substack guide https://malefashionadvice.substack.com/p/penny-loafer-buying-guide

tragically i recommend fast fashion, ethical or not sometimes they really do have semi casual pieces that are really unique and timeless also if you buy and use em like normal clothes than use em only once its not as unethical technically

It was hot as hell and the wedding graciously allowed shorts at both outdoor events. So I ended up with a purple polo + bluish grey flat front shorts from Kohl's + Sperry's and it looked pretty good. Wedding night I wore white/blue stripe lenin long sleeve rolled up polo + navy flat front Kohl's shorts + same Sperry's and it looked slightly more formal but fit the garden party vibe well. I spent around ~$400 total on the two outfits and I was pretty happy with the result. The Kohl's shorts now I can wear as normal shorts which is nice. And I haven't owned a pair of Sperry's before and they're great slip ons and the wide fit doesn't squish my feet. I appreciate all the advice it was super helpful for narrowing down what I needed!
