first install error trying to update
I have installed the desktop edition for a laptop asus with nvidia, then installed the game state and then changed the gpu to the intel iris one (i9 11900k)
I can login to the steam big picture Wayland, but when I select my internet connection it says “failed to update”

go to the desktop and run
ujust update
in the terminal or run the system update application
that will give an actual output.
the "error" through gamemode just says "update didnt give me 0 as an exit code"Thanks I didn’t know that I was able to use this command or even that this command exist sorry will do it now
its no problem, nothing to be sorry for 🙂
the output from that command will be more helpful as we cant really do much more than start the update from gamemode and then guess how long it will take (the timer it shows is a guess and depending on different factors the time it takes to update can take less time or longer)
the system update application and
ujust update
lets you at least see what happensthere are the logs https://pastebin.com/N324Mbes

looks like everything was okey
just the gamemode updater being weird then
since all it does is check what exit code the updater gives
if it is anything than
0
<-- normal exit
it will consider it an erroris there anything that I can do?
nope just if you want to make sure there are no actual errors just update from desktop.
the update from gamemode would still have applied even though it said there was an error for whatever reason
the issue is that Im not even able to use gamemode, because it tries to update whenever I select the internet connection
no idea why it told you there was an error since it updates without an error for me
ahh right youre the person kyle said you could try exporting the gpu and run gamemode with the igpu.
only thing i can suggest trying is to exit steam, rename
~/.local/share/Steam
, launch steam again then try gamemode again after logging in and hope for the best
since none of us have similar hardware to try it outthen I need to go to desktop mode
- rename ~/.local/share/Steam to ~/.local/share/siopakfghiopasg
- lunch steam
- login steam
- restart
- lunch in gamemode
- pray to god
yep not much else i can suggest since i dont know, just worked for me, but im on a desktop with 1 gpu
still broken
Well I think Ill need to come back to windows big picture is going too slow
yeah sadly thats because of nvidia, nothing we can do about it 😦
