Pc not cleanly shutting down
Im havung issue lately where my pc will not shut down fully after hitting shutdown
I reckon theres some sort of background process thats not being killed. Is there some form of a fix i can do or even monitor processes during a shutdown to find the culprit?

nope you cant, you can do
sudo shutdown -P now
though since its a kde x11 specific issue it might not get fixed (since x11 goes byebye entierly in fedora 41).10 Replies
Are you on Nvidia with X11 by any chance? If so have a look at this ticket https://discord.com/channels/1072614816579063828/1249818320333443213
Yeh i am ill check that out now
Ah okay so it's an upstream issue, okay no worries. I dont mind doing a hard shutdown each time, ill just manually kill the processes bit by bit and then do a hard shutdown
Unless can you downgrade x11 in bazzite? I see in that reddit post the guy did that on fedora and it fixed the issue
you can clean shutdown using the console
for the meantime

Thanks!
idk if shutdown works with pkexec but if it does then you can add that as a script file you run on desktop and you get a nice password prompt for shutting down too
ahh its okay i dont shy away from a console 🙂
literally hopped on the server cuz I'm still looking at YouTube full screen even tho I pressed the power button hours ago, being the second time this happened I now know it's another Nvidia issue
Yeee, wont be long tho till x11 will be gone though and we get explicit sync and can bin off x11
on the bright side, YouTube has never needed more resources
it's got the whole system at it's fingertips now
I'm unironically still using it without fully restarting
