Not OE related, but what are some good IT roles with great career prospects that aren’t developer roles?
Meaning good salary, remote, little to no ageism.
All I can think of would be Sys. Admin & DevOps roles?
I’m asking more so for Post-OE life.

Business Analyst. Only requires a little technical knowledge. It’s really about bridging the culture gap between the techies and the arts and flowers majors who run the business.
Also, there was a joke going around that since AI requires the user to state their needs clearly and business people can’t do that IT jobs are safe. I replied that what this really means is that we will all soon become business analysts.

I actually have a very successful OE business analyst friend, shit load of meetings though.
What’s a business analysts career trajectory though? Like what’s the highest level they top out at?
Does it stop at CIO or something?

Are BAs saturated? On linkedin I see all of the BA roles w 100+ apps
metropolitan-bronze•6mo ago
That’s every job lol
fascinating-indigo•6mo ago
What is that?
robust-apricot•6mo ago
Every job on LI gets 1000+ apps. It means nothing. 998 of those apps are hopelessly unqualified and go straight in the trash.

@DataGeek(2J) any feedback on this?
robust-apricot•6mo ago
I don’t know. I was a business analyst only very briefly. I’d love to do it again if I can find another like that one. Since I’m OE and my main job is data analytics I didn’t pay much attention to the career trajectory. I imagine there will someday be CIOs who were former BAs because the skill set overlaps management a lot.
