network rtt + processing spikes
For what ever reason I never had an issue with rtt spiking. It was a problem around act 5 or so and then it randomly went away but now it’s back in full swing. It’s impossible to play the game normally because every 5-10 seconds my game will spike from an idle 30-40ms to about 120+. Im on wifi and to my knowledge Ethernet would fix my issue however this is impossible for me due to the way coax runs through my house and the placement of my modem. Im willing to eventually pay for external devices to aid in my issue but for now I was wondering if there was anything I could do to my system in order to fix this issue. My pc specs are….
Ryzen 7800X3D
B650 Gaming X AX V2
4070 ti super
2tb SK Hynix SSD
It’s very frustrating as I never had the issue then it randomly started happening disappeared then is back to terrorizing my game. Here is a twitter link to what the game looks like during stutters

I’ve tried a plethora of different fixes but cant really remember all of them off the top of my head anything that is recommended I’ll reply to whether or not I tried that or not. Any help is appreciated as I’d love to play the game more but this issue makes playing unbearable.

Network issues like the one you're experiencing can be really frustrating. Here are a few suggestions you can try to minimize your RTT spikes:
1. Optimize Your Wi-Fi Connection:
- Make sure your router is in an optimal position, ideally as close to your PC as possible and away from other electronics that could cause interference.
- Use the 5GHz band instead of 2.4GHz if your router supports it, as 5GHz usually has less interference and higher speeds.
2. Network Adapter Settings:
- Disable power-saving mode for your Wi-Fi adapter in Device Manager.
- Update your network drivers to the latest version.
3. Quality of Service (QoS) on your Router:
- Enable QoS, if your router supports it. Prioritize gaming traffic to ensure a stable connection.
4. Utility Tools:
- Use tools like PingPlotter to analyze your network route for potential issues.
5. Network Optimizations:
- Run commands:
netsh int ip reset
, ipconfig /release
, ipconfig /renew
, ipconfig /flushdns
, and netsh winsock reset
in Admin Command Prompt to reset your network settings.
6. Temporary Solutions:
- Use a powerline adapter, which uses your home's electrical wiring to transmit data, effectively working as a wired connection without the need for long Ethernet cables.
If these suggestions don't resolve your issue, you might want to look into external Wi-Fi extenders or Mesh networks.
