Worldguard vs. GriefPrevention
I've been managing an SMP server that has basically been an anarchy up until this point. Now the players want some way to claim land/protect their bases. I know of both Worldguard and GriefPrevention as big land claim plugins, but I have never used either and I don't know which one has the functionality I need, or if I need both.
Advice is appreciated. Thanks.

both server different purposes imo
i use both plugins in my servers
On my server I use worldguard as spawn protection, and I use Towny to let players claim land. Towny is pretty great because it adds an economy aspect to owning land, and players have to keep up with paying.
Not sure if you're wanting to change your smp to towny though, thats just what I use!
worldguard is admin area protection, griefprevention is play area protection
ok thanks
Ok thanks 👍
Personally I use just grief prevention as you can set admin claims with it. I personally dont see the point in having world guards when grief prevention does the same thing
u can't do anything remotely to the same thing as u can with worldguard
(for admin claims)
all of the flags + different shaped polygons, and have different heights + better subclaiming.... its not comparable. they serve 2 different purposes
griefprevention for player claims
worldguard for admin regions
:this:
apples to oranges tbh. On a survival server with claims, you really need both
Wdym oranges
they arent meant for the same purpose, worldguard is more meant for admin claims, it can do user claims but just not focused on it
comparing them doesnt make much sense
Shows how little I know about them 🙂
