Rebase from bazzite-deck to bazzite-NVIDIA went wrong
I think I have done something quite wrong. I installed the bazzite-deck image to my Legion Go, then in an attempt to enable NVIDIA drivers I rebased into the bazzite-nvidia. Now the autologin and more importantly the return to gaming mode does not work anymore, so I am stuck in Desktop mode.
I guess I have two questions:
1) What is the best way to rollback to the stable bazzite-deck?
2) What is the best strategy to achive what I am trying to do?

rebase to bazzite deck (or boot the ostree:1 entry if that one is still on bazzite-deck according to
rpm-ostree status
), you cant have gamescope-session and nvidia drivers at the same time as nvidia breaks gamescope-session right nowoh no. Would this work if I swap it with AMD int omy egpu enclosure?
none of us devs have egpus ymmv
but amdgpus would work on the deck image as long as they are RDNA based due to a bug in upstream gamescope
but egpu support in linux is not as good as it is in windows, dont think there is any hotplug support
this sucks, but allright. Thank you anyway. Appreciate it.
the nvidia situation is slowly getting better though
and once NVK is good enough and have working gamescope support then you could use a 20 series or newer card in the deck image and not care
but thats most likely not until late this year or next year if i were to spitball a guess
Honestly, I got this Nvidia becuase it came with the egpu, but the sooner I can get rid of it for an AMD I'll do it. I just. wanted to have a proof of concept working before investing more time/money on it.
yeah most egpus come with an nvidia card
there are a few with egpus here but idk much about how the setups are working for them, people dont always tend to come back and say if it worked or not
I am assuming that distroboxing into bazzite-arch, then rebase that one to bazzite-nvidia and export things would not work either right?
yeah, that sucks. Open source is mostly understood for free stuff!
doesnt work because bazzite-arch is not the host it is a container
plus nvidia is problematic in bazzite-arch to begin with
it is why steam is part of the image
I figured that the --nvidia passes from host to image and not vice versa. 😣
yep
gamescope-session does not work in a container
and nvidia doesnt like steam in a container
kyle can probably write a book about it
ok, I'll go along with the "get an AMD" plan. In the meanwhile I may try to use the nvidia host to see if the egpu works in desktop mode in the first place. I'll report back if I make any progress
anyways im off to bed and ok. at least you will have desktop mode, not ideal on the legion go
thank you
