Q: is there a way to place a marker or ping on your Map for navigating?

As per the title is there a way to open your map then place a marker on it that will then show up in the 'Game World'? I've tried using the ping hot key, right clicking, left clicking on the map while I have it open but nothing works. It may not be in the game which would be a shame, hence me coming here to ask.
