Is this colour too vibrant for prom (Looking for places to buy in the UK)
From the UK, more of a dark red that I like and feel isn't too bright. Thoughts?

It would be too much for me personally but doesn't mean its not good for you.
It's worth thinking about if you'll want to use it after for anything like job interviews too, which it may not be so good at.
I think for a prom sort of budget most places will be OK: Moss Bros, suit direct, maybe even m and s for budget? or second hand could be worth a look in charity shops. There's plenty of other suggestions around on here if your budget is bigger.
Proms are for teenagers, it's fine to look goofy. Just have fun and make some good memories
The blunt answer is yes, and you'll almost definitely regret it if you look back on it 20 years from now. But who cares... I already regret half the stuff I wore not even 5 years ago. Style is a journey.
