What to know about glasses in 2024
I need new glasses for the first time in ages and I honestly have no idea what the current trends are. What should I be aware of? And are there recommended sellers?

gold, Silver or black metal rimmed glasses are still in
As Derek Guy has been saying, the current epoch is an epoch of no trends, but subcultures.
I’d base a choice on your wardrobe as glasses are really a strong, face defining of accessory.
In other news,
Luxxotica has really cheaped out on production.
So stay away
?
Luxxotica is fine bc your insurance will cover what you have at the optometrist which is most likely luxotica brands
Luxxotica frames have dropped in quality over the last years, personal experience
just an observation
I should add I have a very strong prescription so traditionally I've gone with small lenses + acetate frames to avoid the cokebottle look, although IDK, if lenses have gotten thinner over time that might be less of a concern
any recommendations on shapes, etc?
What fits your face
glasses are 90% what fits your face and everything else is secondary
go to a store (that will take your insurance) and try stuff on, get opinions from friends and sales associates. If you have contacts I highly recommend wearing them so you can see yourself in the mirror.
just find something you will like, they aren't sunglasses, you have to wear them everyday
trends are extremely slow moving in glasses and probably the thing i worry about trends the least in
yeah, I've always viewed the style of glasses as totally up to your own tastes.
chunky, minimal, metal, plastic, whatever. as long as it fits your face.
unless you know exactly what you are doing (and have money to easily replace them) I wouldn't hop on the latest trends anyway
I personally like Anne et Valentin frames because they have fun shapes and colors
lenses have gotten thinner, though to what extent depends on your prescription.
yeah, you can get lenses made from a special high-index material. they are more expensive though.
more than likely if your vision is that bad an optometrist will recommend high index lenses (at least that's how it is for me at -8.5l
not really much of a coke bottle effect either, even with thin wire frames (or at least one that i notice)
It seems like glasses these days tend to be more round or square like
Less rectangular
I personally wear fairly rounded frames, but not quite harry potter like
big head = need bigger glasses if not look silly
also went to a proper optometrist for once and
1 glasses cost like 200 bucks if theyre good quality
2 if your doctor isnt measuring how your pupils move when looking left right updown that can mess w yer eyeballs
like the muscles
like how a lazy eye occurs kinda way
