Awful boot times on Bazzite Deck
Hi, I’ve just installed Bazzite Deck and for some reason my boot times are abysmal, the only way I’ve been able to properly boot into game mode has been logging in tty and using sudo systemctl restart sddm

Btw my hardware is an i7 7700, Rx 580 and I’m booting on an ssd, and the btrfs volume is shared between an ssd and hdd
I was able to reproduce booting into gamemode, I have to login to a tty, then type “sudo systemctl restart sddm”, and type it again on the same tty, idk why this works but it does
If not it boots into a black screen, kinda loss for words and have no idea what to do so yeah posting it here
what do you mean shared?
Created a btrfs volume that uses both an hdd and an ssd, cause I’m dual booting and it required btrfs so I thought why not
uh the ostree technology is cursed it needs an ssd
Maybe that’s messing me up but idk, still should boot properly cause the efi and boot are on the ssd
God dammit
when i booted bazzite using usb 2 it never booted gamemode
Aight re installing again
i tried a pretty expensive flash drive it took half an hour
ssds work great
Jesus that’s rough
Installing bazzite also was a pain in the bum for me but at least I know what to do now
2-3m with usb3 sata ssd
Wow
That is actually insane
probably will be faster with internal
Now im totally reinstalling
Ok then, still gonna leave this open if it doesn’t work but I guess that that should do it
just to chime in for comparisons sake, literally a few seconds to boot on an NVME capable of 2GBs transfer rate. so yeah, i could see it taking a couple minutes on one of my decade old slower ssds that max out at like 200MBs
Update, tried to reinstall but couldn’t, so I installed fedora kinoite and tried to rebase but couldn’t either, so I guess I’m gonna try Nobara for now, and if that doesn’t work imma try again
