Valorant Frames capped at 144fps although i have a 165hz monitor and with gear that could 200FPS
I just got a 165hz monitor and was excited to play valorant on anything higher than 60frames that aside the game is not viewing 165hz for me and its not because my PC can't handle it, the game is capped on 144hz no matter what I do.
I searched a lot and didn't find a solution.
my friend when he first started playing the game also has clips of him getting 300hz on lower settings but now he too only gets 144hz consistent
It's obviously capped and i don't know what to do about it.
what i tried till now is this:
1-turn off all Gsync and free sync options
2-update drivers
3-check any setting that my be relevant to frames.
4-turn on all Gsync/Freesync options back.
5-lowering graphics and checking every option and what it does.
6-setting frame limits on to 165 and setting them off to unlimited. i set all the frame limits at the same time to the same options i mentioned.
7- checking nvidia control panel and trying everything basically.
By the way i get 165hz on my desktop or other games, its just valorant for some reason.
I would appreciate the help, thanks.

ur cpu bottlenecks the gpu
That doesn't explain the 144 fps cap at all
Completely wipe ur gpu drivers and reinstall them
If u want help with that, ping me.
ur cpu is too weakm
How is that related to the fps being capped at 144?
it means u cant utilize
ur pc to the fullest
so upgrade ur cpu
btw is it gtx 1660 super
Nvm bro
U win
Also just do that and it should be good ^
oh
i cant send links
uhhh
so there is a website to check bottlenecks
The fps cap has nothing to do with a bottleneck of any kind
Bottle necking doesn't cause fps caps
Again, i am not here to argue with randos about anything
Especially when u have 0 idea on what u r talking about.
Peace.
@eclipse I'm sorry to tell you that but your ideas are very delusional and you shouldn't be giving wrong advice
here is a proof of that

and btw
i can run more demanding games than valoarnt at higher frames
i actually came here for answers ive been searching for days
your adivce is too much and without evidence
i tried not to argue but the fact you convinced someone else that upgrading the CPU is the solution triggered me im sorry
@jidat sorry for the ping just liked you seeing this message too
hope i didn't disrupt you
Wipe ur gpu drivers and uninstall nvidia control panel then manually install the control panel and then download the gpu drivers manually.
Do u want me to guide u through it to ensure evrything is deleted properly?
And i will also be sure that u did evrything properly
ill just check youtube
i will come to ask you if i face any troubles
thanks for the advice
but i do not have an integrated graphics card
does wiping the drivers still allow the PC to functions since there wont be any graphics unit to work?
I will just give u instructions, follow em
k
open windows settings
Apps and services
Search for "nvidia"
Delete everything thats nvidia related there. Even the nvidia control panel
Then open Microsoft store
Download nvidia control panel from there
Then go to the nvidia drivers download website
Select ur exact windows version and gpu version and everything
Then click search
Then download
While installing them, click on advanced install
There u will get an option for "clean install"
Tick it
And continue with the installation.
@Zain
im still worried about this
i usually get careful about it and do my research but then do them anyways
currently i have finals so if my PC is not able to function i will be in trouble
I might do it after exams if it isn't a valorant update issue
ill give you a message either way weather its solved or not
thanks for the instructions 🙏
It possibly cannot harm ur pc
Solution
i got a fix
here it is
So the things I can think of are:
Make sure you don't have something as simple as Vsync on and that you are running the game in FULL SCREEN (AKA EXCLUSIVE FULLSCREEN)
What you mentioned already with g-sync
Frame rate limiter in NVIDIA control panel.
If you have a program such as MSI Afterburner it could also have a framerate limiter runnig through "RSS, a program..."
Make sure you don't have a profile for VALORANT in NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL like how this example had "Call of the wild" as a game profile.
Double check that Valorant doesn't have a profile and that you are changing it in the global settings for all of the above mentioned things.
Or if you have a profile make sure that you changed all the mentioned things in that profile and not only in global.
All the posts off people with similar issues ends with them not responding to a given thing to try most likely due to realising they missed something at it fixed itself
discord did not let me send any pictures so i couldn't include them
