Is Xata powerful?
I'm building a SaaS app like Shopify, which has a lot of functions, features, and active users. I'd like to use Xata as the main data handler as it has a ton of features. However, I'm still not sure, I see developers building database solutions from scratch, so I don't know which option I should choose. Can I rely on Xata to handle a lot of data? Thanks :xatafly:

Hi, Xata provides scaling and pricing approaches that can meet all sizes of database needs. The Free and Pro plans run on shared infrastructure, which benefits from economy of scale, allowing you to begin developing your app at no or minimal cost and run it in production up to a substantial scale (see concurrency and rate limits: https://xata.io/docs/concepts/pricing#concurrency-limit).
Should your app's success make its db usage need to scale beyond that level, we offer Dedicated Clusters with configurable resources. Xata's PostgreSQL offering is built on top of AWS Aurora which can scale up to some of the most powerful hardware available anywhere. You can select the instance type to use or enable autoscaling to allocate resources based on your app's current traffic and utilization - which is a good fit for use cases that deal with frequent traffic spikes and fluctuations.
You can find more information about Xata's Dedicated clusters offering on this blog post: https://xata.io/blog/postgres-dedicated-clusters
Dedicated clusters are currently in closed beta and will become publicly available in the coming months. You can sign up for Early Access here: https://5i8caik7lja.typeform.com/to/Gh5lin22
