divide the percentage with the mass of the atom for this case C--> 12g H---> 1g 82/12 ---> approx 7 17/1---> 17 (but i took 16 cuz hydrocarbons occur in the form of CnH2n+2 so 16)

bhai hame C ka approx value 7 mila he if it will be alkene means C7H14 If alkane means C7H16 Alkyne C7H12 exists but the closest compound to those percentages is c7h16

u assume the total mass as 100 then c will be 82g and h will be 17g ( its to make it easier for us to solve) You can assume it any value tbh but for the sake of calculation

No, it's where you'll have to use a calculator. You get 6.89 is 217.3, which then becomes 1 is 2.5. It then becomes. C2H5, that's the answer.

We are not dividing by percentage. I don't know if you've heard my earlier message. You take the basis to be 100 grams. So 100 gram mese 82% means 82 grams. So 82 grams is carbon divided by molar mass of carbon which is 12 gram per mole. So look at the units. Gram and gram get cancelled, mole is on top. So you're finding number of moles in 100 grams. Right? So you're getting mole ratios what you're getting. I think you need to revise how empirical formula works. You can check out my session. I've done this in detail.
