Update steam from gamemode does not work.
When trying to update steam from gamemode on steam deck it failes with message: UPDATE ERROR "Am error was encountered during the update process, please try again."

However, I just found that my EFI partition was full. That partition needs to be written to before a firmware update it seems. expanded from 64 to 128MiB to be safe and the system updated no errors.

I'm not seeing an error message? In the summary, all the statuses are green. The latest release is 40-20240510 which you are on in the second image.
Could you take a photo of the error you getting in game mode? As you are fully up to date
Do you always get that error if you try and update from the deck?
Yeah here's the error from gamemode.
The only thing I can think of is the pip3 and rustbox that were installed on top might be throwing some weird error. Maybe try an
rpm-ostree reset (you can install these in distrobox rather) reboot and then try and update in game mode.
If that doesn't help there are bazzite maintainers that use the steam deck, they might be able to assist you a little laterThank you much. Ill try the reset and report back.
