[Ni(CO)4] vs [Ni(CN)4]2 Hybridization
Why do these have different hybridizations despite having the same coordination number and central metal ion?

ok but in NiCO4 why is it sp3
there are 2 unpaired electrons in the 3d orbital
shouldnt they get paired because its a strong field ligand
As the electron jump the d orbitals they get paired and d orbital is full the remaining orbitals are 4s and 4p
Yes the get paired and one more orbital is filled by 2 4s electrons
