Understanding gamescope

So far what I understand is that gamescope needs to be launched from a different TTY? Is this correct? I keep seeing the option in lutris but I don't know why it exists or how to use it in the first place either way I can't seem to run it on my DE just freezes or throws error

You can do both but gamescope is not tested nested So half of the versions instantly crash That's upstream gamescope woes Also when gamescope is running nested it disables all the fancy features such as framerate control And hdr So it's kinda pointless

so.... there's nothing to gain from it (performance-wise) ? seems like a hurdle to get it running maybe
