my beard is weird, what should I do?
Been told by 4 people in the past couple weeks that I should shave the chin part, but I'm worried that my chin is recessed or too short and it'll look funny.
Any advice? Also taking hair advice, got dense and medium thickness, straight hair.

chin looks fine, i agree with what you're hearing
lots of folks take finasteride and minoxidil to bolster and keep their hair, could be an option for you but it's a good conversation to have with your pcp or dermatologist
Alright. Thanks for the response. I'm pretty sure I'm dealing with a receding hairline aswell so maybe there would be extra benefits
No shame to be on hair medication. Lots of guys (including me) are on it
But yeah I think that you can probably shave the chin part and have an even beard. Your chin is fine and definitely not weird looking
Also I dunno what you’re typically doing with your hair but I have had it a similar length and my recommendation is to tie it up higher on the back of your head. I learned this later than I should have which is why I share.
I also agree your chin looks normal and you could lose the chin part of the beard
It's just wild because I'm only 19, and people comment on my hairline going back sometimes. Like dang am I 40 already 😂
Thank y'all for the encouragement I really appreciate it
Any idea of what to replace it with? Maybe just go with a 7 or a 9 guard all around except the mustache?
Many people age differently!! There’s no shame. Also you can grow a beard at 19 so at least you can balance with a beard later on if you decide to go bald. I can’t grow facial hair
Honestly I've considered going bald! I think I'll try it if I get through the medium and short haircuts and am still not happy
There's not really any hairstyles that I think I'd like great with tbh so I'm not too excited about it
Haha If you call this a beard 😂
From many years of trial and error, I tend not to use a trimmer evenly on everything. I tend to use it only on moustache and sideburns to keep them tidy.
And for the rest I use a trimmer or scissors to trim, but not to a consistent length. Hard to explain over text only, probably best to learn through a little experimentation. I tend to keep the hair closer to my chin slightly longer (but nowhere near as long as yours).
The good thing is that it will always grow back, so if you don’t get it right it’s not the end of the world.
Alright alright, I really appreciate people keeping it real with me on this
I'll look into some different beard styles and see what my options are
i think just rocking straight stubble could look good
i am self conscious a bit about my jawline/chin and like to have some facial hair to help define it
but a little goes a long way
also to answer your other question in gen chat -- your beard will def get more full the older you get. i had a patchy monstrosity in high school. my beard was full but not thick in the first one (im like... 21?) vs this one taken when I was about to turn 30.
Agreed with all the comments here, chin looks fine. If you want more length on the beard though it'll look a lot more natural to add length throughout
Don't have a picture of early bear on me but I looked pretty similar to you when I started growing it out around 21 years old. This is a recent picture.
Didn't see all these messages till now! Thank y'all so much! I shaved my face down to a 1, because I haven't seen my face since before I finished puberty, and the chin is fine but for some reason my body is storing fat under my chin, so it looks like I have a double chin
I'm going to try dermastamping and minoxodil on one side, and nothing on the other. See if it actually helps beard growth and if so start the routine on my whole face
Just the double chin thing is weird because I literally have abs, decent vascularity, I don't think my bodyfat is too high
Before I grew it out there was no double chin in sight 😂
@ler @SmittyW thank you guys for the encouragement! I'm going to grow it back out and see what happens
This is it now
Remember that beards take a long time to grow, and tend to grow unevenly. Give it some good time to really fill in
Appreciate you! I'll make sure to update people here
With the whole dermastamping and minoxodil on one side and nothing on the other
