What you're trying to do can't work And we explicitly remove game mode because the system 76 scheduler replaces it

Because it requires a launch option to be manually applied to work and sets the performance governor by default which is bad for battery life and single threaded performance we are not interested in shipping it under any circumstance

i can help you layer it to your system if you really want it

Yes plz
tryhardsoccermomswag
rpm-ostree install libgamemode.so.0 libgamemodeauto.so.0
rpm-ostree install libgamemode.so.0 libgamemodeauto.so.0
wait for it to install to the image and reboot should work for feral gamemode

ok

still requires a launch option and all the same jazz just want to note layering packages can break future updates so if you find updates having issues:
rpm-ostree reset
rpm-ostree reset
also will remove feral gamemode from your image. for now this probably will be fine until fedora 41 imo

Actually, after quite a bit of testing, I realized that being in performance gouvernor mode instead of balanced mode stabilizes my FPS significantly. And I actually wanted to avoid being in performance mode all the time. I thought performance mode only activated when you started a game? Also, I want to avoid having to go back and forth in the settings to activate it. So, I found that setting the game mode as a launch option wasn't so bad. https://discordapp.com/channels/1072614816579063828/1087140957096517672/1237477999167803442

Having your clock speeds forced to their highest means your individual single cores cannot clock as high as they otherwise could for single threaded workloads, which are primarily games

Here it was because of game mode

I saw, I could not reproduce that on my end but I certainly believe it happened My point remains, we will never ship gamemode You are welcome to layer it though, nothing wrong with that

No problem, one more thing, just make sure you turn off system 76 scheduler Otherwise it will conflict Disabling the service is sufficient

With the governor in performance mode, I get better performance and more stability. I think it depends on the games; with Shadow of the Tomb Raider, I also gain ~10 percent with the game mode. Borderland too Maybe you can reproduce it with Borderlands 3; it's one of the most noticeable. And I have friends who can reproduce it. The YouTuber A1RM4X also gets significantly more FPS on Borderlands 3 with the game mode. Anyway, all the best. It's late here, so I'm going to bed XD.
