Day 1 Lightning Sessions
Given that the event was more successful than originally anticipated, I rented a second room for the social hacking day (Day 1) to host a series of lightning talks.
Each talk will be 20mins long, including Q&A, with a 10min break between sessions.
Signing up for a slot can be done in a self-service way by modifying this spreadsheet.
Any Day 1 attendee is welcome to sign up for a slot and the topic can be about anything you like, just please keep it marketing and crypto-scam free. Thanks!

Day 1 will have a second room setup with 50 seats for short talks.
Each slot is up to 20m long, ideally split evenly between 10m of talk and 10m of Q&A (but that's up to you).
Between slots there's a 10m break.

is it expected to have slides or no slides for this one?
I would say, "no espexations"
so if you want to just show some code in an editor, feel free
I would only recommend to practice the talk in both cases because talk slots are pretty small and if you haven't practiced (especially if you don't have slides, which do kinda help keep you on schedule) then you will easily risk going over time
Will there be a laptop for presenters? I do not trust my laptop to work without any issues. 😅
And one follow-up question: Will this be live-streamed/recorded as well?
sorry no laptop
if you create something easily shareable like google slides I'm sure somebody will be able to offer their laptop to run your presentation
no live streaming nor recording
May be able to do a quick a zig spirv/gpu status update
you might want to take a slot then, only 3 are left
that would be cool, I'm super interested in the spirv work!
I couldn't edit it from my phone
if anyone would like to give a lightning talk and there are no slots left, ping me and I shall free my slot - otherwise, I will just rant
would anyone be interested to hear about advanced use cases for infrastructure management and deployment in code?
It is not Zig related per say. I got so tired of all the toolings with their own DSL in YAML/HCL that a colleague and I wrote https://github.com/volvo-cars/lingon. It is in Go but the concepts I want to talk about has less to do with Go and more with how to navigate the maze of infrastructure at scale.
did you manage to secure a slot? if not, would you like me to free up mine for you?
there isn't a free spot anymore, that is very kind of you to give your spot away @kubkon , much appreciated 😄. Is your talk the first one ? "Rants of the MachOMan, or linking gems across OSes"
Yep, removed it and put your Discord handle in it
Feel free to actually fill it now
awesome! Thank you very much. Don't worry, there is rant in what I'm going to say as well. One of the reason I asked to speak is that, this isn't recorded
Looking forward to it!
If anyone has anything more Zig related, I am also up to give up my spot.
I'll have to retract my submission, as I've realised I'll have no time to prepare for it. @kubkon if you are still up for some ranting, we would love to hear it!
I'll leave it for someone else to claim for now, and maybe claim it if no one else does. I am also quite short on any spare time these days as got a newborn in the house
One speaker discovered last minute that they couldn't be present tomorrow so their slot was freed. The 14:00 slot is now up for grabs.
Not a lot of time, but if anybody was tempted before already, this might be your time to shine :caret:
You will still have tomorrow's morning to prepare in case.
time to shineor, if we stick with the lightning metaphor, it's your time to strike âš¡ I'm announcing in the tables room 5minutes before the lightning talks start
I'll grab the 14:00 slot if no one else has 🙂
@bobf @nat-418 here is the repo with my markdown renderer we were talking about at the end of Loris’s lighting talk https://github.com/mk12/blog (tried to dm you but discord won’t let me)
