How often do you guys wash woolen sweaters and turtlenecks?
The internet says that wool should be washed "less often" than other materials, but is there a more clear rule how many wears can wool handle? BTW I never put woolen stuff directly on naked body, only over shirt or long-sleeve.

i only wash wools when they start to smell or get stained (and even then i just hand wash). in the winter that's usually every few weeks but in summer it's significantly less
that's sadly not super precise because it depends on your individual body chemistry and how active you are when wearing it but it's the most effective way i've kept wools long-lasting
Maybe hand wash before you stop wearing it for the summer?
I usually only do it once a season, so when everything starts warming up they all get washed and put away
That's exactly what I did a few days ago and it lead me to asking this question.
Hand washing sweaters once a season seems fine - you and other user said that. But I'm worried about turtlenecks since they contact neck and definitely take in some sweat. Definitelly don't want to be a smelly guy.
If the sweater doesn't smell, it's not going to make you smell
