Flickering Nvidia Weirdness
HI All,
Attached a video which will hopfully display correctly. I am wondering if the video shows the behaviour your would expect to happen with nvidia+wayland.
I installed the ISO for nvidia desktop pc. Some info below:

Yup that's a known issue. Log out and switch your session to X11. It's a dropdown on the login screen in the bottom left hand corner. The options are "Plasma" or "Plasma (X11)" go for the second one. Log in again and see if your issues are gone. Nvidia and Wayland don't like each other at the moment.

I will be going to x11 as soon as my backed up games copy over to complete my emu deck thing. I guess x11 performance wise is not a huge drop if at all. Actually I do not know what it is really but I can google more info if I need that.
I recommend looking forward the new NVIDIA driver which beta comes in late may, it apparently is going to fix explicit sync issue

I guess I will be looking forward because wayland is supposed to be better and if it works then that would be great XD
it may take a while to hit the fedora and bazzite though. Assumedly after the release it'll take some time

I wonder why it does not default with x11 out of the box for now
but I guess these things are complicated as is
Cause Plasma 6 on fedora 40 defaults to wayland. And on fedora 40 there is no x11 ootb now, you need to manually get the plasma-workspace-x11 package to enable x11 session. It is a KDE SIG decision to push wayland. It didn't work well for NVIDIA users though. So now you need to wait for both 555 driver and Plasma 6.1 for explicit sync
arr so in fact nothing to do with bazzite choice
Also Ig Plasma 6.1 is going to be released after the 555 driver, so you also need to wait for that
Well, Bazzite did add x11 specifically to the image. They decided not to make it the main session though cause it's only the issue for NVIDIA i suppose
Also Plasma 6 now supports wayland better
Yes what I was saying was more because y ou have to install a nvidia specific iso. THought it may not be that specific and be much more work than it may seem at first glance anyhow

Thank you. It was easy to find the plasma x11 option and currently staring at the blaz logo. Probably takes longer to boot up one u select x11

Videos full screen always caused it
well no more flickering but does not even go into fullscreen so that is no longer a working test. What I can say for sure is Discord is no longer doing the thing where visually removes what I type
flickering seems to be gone
I may need one more reset cos I had to change screen orientation and now primary monitor not displaying wallpaper or the desktop shortcuts I had that I did not really need
lol no idea how I knew that could work but 1 more reset did indeed restore wallpaper and desktop icons lol
now steam video test again lol
I have NVIDIA on my desktop. Just saying Plasma may behave different under x11 as they are currently oriented onto wayland but generally should work
I see so some sort of mismatch thing till things update and resolve over time hopefully
well my discord is at least super smooth now lol
screencap pipeline does not work obs now
but the other option does
I guess that is related to using x11
they are all tiny issues I seem to get around easily at least
good news. X11 and a couple of pc restarts seemed to ultimately solve the issue

Yes actuallyt the 2nd reset was not needed. I think a steam issue the other thing lol
