the question here asks for optical activity and at least one chiral carbon being present while option (a) being a ortho substituted biphenyl derivative shows optical activity without any chiral centres present the same goes for option (c) its optically active but with no chiral centres as for option (b) and (d) they seem to show plane of symmetry and that should make them optically inactive (i might be wrong on this one) so acc to me none of the options really fulfill what the question asks chbrcl will make a chiral carbon
