Why sir didn't take +-2 And in the next step he took +- sign I am just too confused in this sqrt stuff Please explain me in the easiest way possible. Thanks @iTeachChem

Because for a real Argument , tan²x is always a positive quantity... If You were in 6th grade They would have told .. Tan⁴x=4 Tan²x=±2 But tan²x can't be -ve hence Tan²x must be 2 Hence tan x = ±√2 Well you want to go in the complex World Yes Tan²x=-2 And tan x=±i √2 Also counts
