For C2C Interest, what is the best rate to quote?

Im curious - ive had an uptick in interest for C2C work for my UX Designer Roles but Im at a loss because I am unaware of what my competition is charging (and I dont want to be taken advantage of) Ive had a ton of W2 roles but im not sure what the multiplier is to reach what the companies were paying my recruiter for me - How do you gauge what is a fair price?

(I know the first step is to calculate how much you would charge to survive if this was your only role but I feel like im still leaving money on the table if I rely on just that)

charge higher than you're comfortable with, and for the next client -- charge higher than that 🙂 in all honesty that's a problem for many business owners... what to charge. If you really want to try to align it with a baseline, you can go 25% higher than your highest w2 rate to cover for insurance and taxes, but everyone negotiates. try 30 to 35% higher, then see if the client accepts. I'd even through in sales tactics like charge 40% high, but offer "discounts" like X number of revisions for a project or X hours of additional support coverage if they spend Y hours of on-call support, and if they take on those packages they can get a Z% off.

I found this quite helpful to get a ballpark on how much you should charge per an hour using your W2 wages as a reference: https://calculator.academy/salary-to-contract-rate-calculator/
