Bazzite crashes when resuming and Steam is running

Hi all, got kind of a weird one: i do not have my computer autolock from inactivity, just screen blank. I noticed sometimes that when i would come back, i would have to log in again, and then noticed that it was actually crashing, not locking, when i was writing a disk image to a usb and the process had been terminated. After doing some testing yesterday, i was able to determine that this only seems to be happening when Steam is either foregrounded or backgrounded. here's my sysinfo:

I tried peeking into the Logs app to see if anything stood out, but nothing was obvious. i should also note that i didnt see this behaviour on the kde variant, just gnome, and it was in both the Fedora 39 base as well as the Fedora 40 base. Feel free to ask for additional info/logs, and i will provide as best as i can.

You know I just realised, my version of mutter appears to be X11 instead of wayland. Is this intentional as part of the Bazzite-gnome install, or is there a guide on upgrading/sidegrading it to wayland? I wonder if X11 is the root cause given that the KDE is definitely wayland. I skimmed the docs and didn’t see anything specific about it, but I do see a lot of weeping and gnashing of teeth about X11 on reddit with Nvidia drivers or something along those lines I haven’t seen this issue since the latest update, but I haven’t tested as thoroughly either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Update: nope problem still persists
