What's a good sweater or jacket to wear to a mother's day dinner at an upscale steakhouse?
I have a thin sweater polo and some wide trousers from uniqlo, but I feel like I need a jacket or sweater of some sort. Actually I don't even know if the polo is a good idea or not, but I don't have any dress shirts right now since I've bulked up in weight and all my old dress shirts are too small.
Looking for ideally something I can use in other less formal-ish settings too.

Basically anything but a crewneck or hoodie would probably fit the bill but pics would help the most
Quarter zips also probably worth avoiding though I’m not as much of a quarter zip hater as many here
And no, pics of the sweaters / fits you’re considering
There are a lot of good resources in this post and the one directly above it as well https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1125076626665910332/1128001710107926678
oh I don't really have any idea of what to wear haha.
Pants wise, these are the only formalish pants I have. Wide pleated uniqlo. I have it in khaki color and black.
Shirt is from express. I have it in gray and brown.
For shoes, I have white common project looking things, or brown leather boots, or black chelseas
I honestly don't even know which jacket/sweater would work well. I know for sure I prob wouldn't want a chore jacket or field jacket since that seems out of place in an upscale restaurant setting
Hard to tell if pants fit you + how they drape, Uniqlo has made “wide fit pleated pants” a number of times (basically every season for a few years, sometimes for men, women or both and differently) with different patterns and fabrics
Boots seem fine (I’m not a boot guy), sneakers could go either way based on dress code
If you don’t have a dress shirt and could use a dress shirt, a dress shirt is always a good thing to have on hand if you can afford one. Plenty of good options secondhand on eBay et al if you know your measurements. Polo Ralph Lauren white OCBD is a classic option and can easily be dressed down.
Hmm ok and if you were in the same situation as me, what kind of jacket would you wear?
Maybe a coach jacket if you’re opposed to chores but having a formal/semi formal option on deck is also generally a good thing if you think you’ll need it again within the year
