How to access game mode on desktop image or disable automatic boot to game mode on deck image
I just installed bazzite 3.0 stable, kde desktop edition. I'm trying to figure out how to enter gaming mode so that I may easily play games in HDR. Since it is not the deck image, there is no readily accessible desktop icon to "Return to game mode." Alternatively, I'm happy to use the deck image if that is the only way to access it, but since I intend to use bazzite for work as well as gaming, I'd rather have it boot directly to the desktop, not to the gamescope session. Any idea how to achieve this?

Well, I've been searching for a solution to this for the past couple of days and finally hit on something in the unversal-blue docs that I'll copy here for anyone who needs it. Just noting that this solution is apparently not recommended, but it did work for me:

Steam Deck images have it disabled due to causing issues with MangoHud. It will be added back when these issues are resolved. You will have to rebase to the Unstable branch. More information can be found here.

Deck images have game mode. I don't think there's a simple way to boot to desktop mode by default so you'd just need to exit it after you boot in
You might be able to rebase to the deck image and just pin that image and rebase back to the desktop image. Then if you want game mode you could reboot and explicitly select the deck image on boot. Not the best solution but it might be viable.
