Game freezes after a few mins
I recently had an issue where my game would crash my PC every time I opened it, after a few seconds in the loading screen. After talking to the Riot Support, turns out the issue was that I had my game installed in my secondary drive, so I reinstalled it on my main drive and it opens correctly now. However, after a few minutes of being in the game, whether I'm in the main menu, in The Range, in a match, or even if I have the game minimized, my computer freezes completely and I have to reboot.
I already asked Riot about this but I'm also asking here if anybody has ran into this issue before.

Having this same issue. Ive uninstalled both the game and the client, made sure windows is up to date, closed any conflicting softwares, set priorities, etc. Cannot get this to work
@Blixer lmk if u have any luck
Riot Support told me the issue was likely the fact that my CPU is too old (which doesn't make sense at all, the game works perfectly fine until my computer freezes)
damn. And it didnt happen till this new update right? @Blixer
The time between the game opening and my computer crashing seems consistent though
oh
maybe we have a seperate issue. Mine is random, doesnt matter if im loading in game, in game, range, etc.
No idea, this is my first time actually playing the game
ohhh. What cpu do u have? do you know? @Blixer
first gen i7, specifically the Core i7 920
This is around 2 to 3 minutes
blixer i got news
that is a processor released in 2008
def the problem
I know
But it doesn't make sense how the game runs perfectly fine (even getting 120 FPS in high settings) and then just crashes lol
overloaded most likely
i mean u can try halting other processes that take up processing power
Not really
the 120fps mostly effects gpu
iirc it barely goes to like 40% usage when running the game
hmm
will check again tomorrow
could just be compatability issues?
maybe
at this point I can really expect anything
if the game refused to run before and crashed my PC just because I had it installed on another SSD lol
even games like fortnite which are a lot more demanding (Fortnite specifically because it's poorly optimized) manage to run alright in my PC
so it's either compatibility or just a bug with anything on my build
support also told me that "what the game does after being launched is trying to set the resolution to 1680x1050 and then closes"
doesn't make sense either since the game runs at that resolution fine for the time I mentioned before
doesn't directly crash my computer the moment it loads
at some point I'll likely get a new PC so I guess I'll be able to play then
but not for now (if it's not on my laptop, which is an office laptop but runs the game at consistent 60FPS in low graphics without any issues)
@Zach also, if you haven't tried that before, add exceptions to Valorant, Vanguard and Riot Client to your firewall
that's one of the things Riot Support told me to do
maybe it's just a bug with my CPU or something who knows
