Attempting to connect a domain to your Discord account is impossible through DNS
Discord wants you to create a TXT file with the name
_discord.domain.com
(replaced with your domain), however trying to create this record is impossible since it automatically omits .domain.com
. Any way to stop this from happening?7 Replies
, however trying to create this record is impossible since it automatically omits .domain.com.It's purely a nice visual thing doesn't effect actual functioning makes it easier to create subdomains as well, you can just do
_discord
for the name and it'll assume subdomainDiscord doesn't seem to like it, I've tried so many times and it refuses to connect it to my account
I just did it on cloudflare fine, can you share the record it's trying to have you create and what you have created?
Yep, hold on
okay well nevermind it appears discord wants to make me look like an idiot because it's just done it without asking me for anything.
Thanks Discord
Keeping this in mind though, thanks for the info
another thing to keep in mind is there is DNS propagation time
right now it's about ~11s minimum from you saving a record to it being served on edge (unoffical community monitoring: https://dnsfree.cloudflare.chaika.me/). That is assuming no DNS Resolver cache or anything, purely just time from you saving the record to it being served on edge
Yeah I gave it a good 10 minutes as I went to go figure out how an air fryer works and it still gave me errors
Discord's just acting up I guess
possible or they just cached it/got an error and refused to retry for a bit, dns is slow
