Alt-tab / Forcing a certain controller / web browser through decky
Not NEW to Linux, but it’s been near a decade since I’ve really used it. Regardless, I recently put bazite on my ally and I really want to use it as my daily driver but there’s a few things preventing me from doing so.
1) I’ve tried using the web browser plugin for decky on both the beta and non beta versions of steamos. I always get a react plugin error and I’m unable to use it. Is the web browser broken or is it something on my end? As a result I’ve tried using the desktop mode, but that also leads to issues.
2) I’ve gotten alt tabbing to work with RB and select, however when I launch a game from desktop mode I can’t get the controller to change to the desktop layout. I’ve tried binding alt tab to keys within my game, but that doesn’t seem to work. I’ve tapped the touch screen which enables the desktop controls and then have tried the RB select method, but this changes back to controller layout immediately. This leads me to my 3rd issue
3) is there anyway to force a certain controller layout so that I can maintain my alt tabbing functionality?
4) I’ve tried using chrome through SteamOS but it frequently results in hard locks of my system.
I play a lot of POE, so having a web browser open in the background is pretty much required. If there’s any better way to do this than the ways that I’ve suggested, please let me know.

hi, i will answer at least the stuff i know since i fiddled with this myself.
1. the web browser plugin is from what i recall made from CEF (chromium embedded framework) so it is not a full browser so even if it did work it would give you issues on a lot of websites, the error you get is most likely from the plugin itself (if steam client is in stable channel, if it is in beta channel you should move to stable and try as a lot of decky plugins or decky itself breaks in beta channel quite often)
2. once you launch a game, the controller is locked to that games gamepad layout in steam input, i do not own an ally but i know on the steamdeck you can hold down the steam button and while you hold it down, the whole controller will be in a hardcoded desktop layout for this reason.
3. nope has to be set per game to my knowledge. you can save the layout as a template to make it easier (just keep in mind it will not work in games like warframe that forces the use of the steam input api when it detects it is enabled, this is when you have to map up A to JUMP instead of A to GAMEPAD A)
