Looking for a recording-app.

I need an app that has the possibility to save the last two minutes happening on my monitor simply by pressing my chosen shortcut. I like OBS seeing as it has Replay Buffer but it doesn’t have the possibility to start with the computer. I love Medal with it’s possibility to start with the computer and also it’s capacity to cut/edit videos before uploading them. But it can’t record outside of games. Does anyone know of any other option that can shortcut to save last set amount of time, record the entire screen and hopefully but not necessarily show a notification of the video being saved but not let it show in the recording after?

I tried SteelSeries GG but it seemed like I couldn't clip it outside of games. 😖 Nvidia Replay for some reason wouldn't work for me. Yup, the only thing keeping me to Medal now is their ability to have the editor in the same area as the recorder itself. But otherwise... OBS is starting certainly to pull me in with my desire to save clips outside of games. Seems like I'll need to install this darn video-editor before I can satisfy myself with OBS though. 💀😅

to be honest i use medal for clipping games too. its just much more convenient. but i also have obs running most of the time, just in case i run into a lobby where i can play piano, then clip it, cut it and upload to tiktok for example. obs is just more of everything, but will take a lot more effort :YEP: +no watermark if you dont want it

Now then, I finally got the video-editor installed, seems OBS is it after all. 😁 Thank you for your time.

either open the pc phisically or check in task manager at performance/gpu

What graphics card are you using?

How do I check that?

Open "task manager" by heading to your windows search bar. Once open, click the performance tab and select your GPU 0 or GPU 1

@Skribbl27 Medal is pretty good and is very versatile.

Yes, the problem with Medal is that I can't record outside of any game it seems. OR that whatever notification coming up on my screen telling me that my clip has been saved, also gets shown/heard in the second recording that I make.

Yeah, Medal only records games.

Nvidia GeForce RTX it seems.

Have you considered using Nvidia's GeForce Experience Shadow Play?

I am not sure if I have. You mean this?

Yep! I know the default recording length is 30 seconds, but I think you can configure it to be longer. I use Nvidia's competitors software and GPU, AMD Re:Live and it's configurable past 30 seconds

Well then yes I have already tried it but... It doesn't seem to clip things occuring outside of games. On the other hand... I'll try and see if it actually clips anything inside games as well. No, I clip things but they don't get sent to the folder and the first time I clip they only save 20 seconds and the second time that I clip, they then save 10 seconds??? I don't get it...

You could use Outplayed

geforce exp works that way, so you dont have any overlapping when you make multiple clips. it basicalls stops recording and immediately starts it again when you make a clip

But then it just becomes a bit difficult to merge seeing as they become two different clips entirely. The only two things that I don't want to be showing are the parts displayed at the end of this clip (a bit after 0:22).

One both sees and hears of how Medal saves the previous clip occuring but whatever I got in the previous clip is something that I still see in the second clip as well, thanks the clips overlapping, the thing that I like with Medal. If I get one/two kills in the clip I save then I don't want Geforce Exp to split the clip into two when I then kill the other three players jumping on me making an entirely new clip. Geforce Exp deletes the first part from the two first kills in the second clip. Medal doesn't stop the previous clip because I save it but instead just copies the piece as it's still used in the second video so that I can just delete the previous video and then keep the second video having recorded absolutely everything. The problem simply being that Medal catches both the noise and the notification on screen of the video being clipped of course. Is there any app that works like Medal, doesn't split a clip into two but instead records the previous bit and the bit after as well just without picking up the bookmarking in the recordings? 🙄

I wouldnt know an app that does this. I guess you could try to just make the clip time longer, so you dont have just 30 seconds but like 2 minutes that will be clipped (with medal). You can always just cut the unnecessary parts out in the build it editor :Pepethink: thats exactly how i use medal

Yes I have my clips cut to two minutes very often. But when I then clip what I think will be the end of those kills (a bit more difficult to tell while playing games like Fortnite) or get a comment in Skribbl,io after I think everything is done. Then 30 seconds or two minutes make no difference. I now realized that I tend to play Skribbl,io as well of course. Making Medal an app that seeing as I can't use it in Google becomes quite a bad idea anyway... Yay...

yeah i think obs is your best option to clip in- and outside of your games

Yup, just now installed Bandicam to see that nope they don't have a "Replay Buffer" and then trying Geforce Experience again I see that they only roll inside of games... That's it... OBS it is...
