Lenovo Legion Go Observed issues
hello, i'm making this post to document the issues i've been experiencing with the lgo. here's how i installed it:
i used im magic partition to make my 1tb windows down to about half, and used the deck-gnome iso to install bazzite on the other half. for the issues, they are as follows:
- general issues with the gnome osk (that's probably gnome tho, i've never had luck with it)
- in deck mode (gaming mode), the osk likes to show up all of the time, even when i have a keyboard and mouse connected (sounds like a steam bug)
- fans are ALWAYS spinning. should it be like this? how should i fix this?
- when playing just cause 3, i observed the battery trickling down even when plugged in on medium settings.
- this is by far the biggest issue: when launching cs2 from desktop mode, it works fine for a little bit, but when i enter (so far, only competitive) matches, it likes to disconnect from my dock
- the dock is an anker 575
- it reconnects and disconnects rapidly, and when it does, the entire ui freezes on a black screen and i have to restart the device
- this rapid connection-disconnection was observed when just plugging in a charging cable into it
- i plugged in a displayport adapter directly and did not have an issue with that
- when changing
ujust _toggle-autologin
to start in desktop mode, it won't let me switch over to deck mode
if anyone has fixed, please let me know. i'll update this as more issues come along.17 Replies
general issues with the gnome osk (that's probably gnome tho, i've never had luck with it)GNOME OSK is intentionally disabled OOTB, please use the Steam Keyboard. You can bind it to a button from steam settings.
fans are ALWAYS spinning. should it be like this? how should i fix this?Did you follow the alternative handhelds section of our readme?
when changing ujust _toggle-autologin to start in desktop mode, it won't let me switch over to deck modeThe _ signifies that this is hidden, we do not and can not support the use of this. It's buggy on SteamOS too. CS2 one is interesting, some logs when this happens may help
sudo dmesg | fpaste
1. how should i use the steam keyboard in the gnome desktop?
2. no, ill check that out!
3. I was following this advice, but ill keep that in mind. is there no way to have it open in default?

In steam bind X to open keyboard, under controller settings
ill remember to do this next time i try to game
I have a decky loader theme, but that's steam keyboard on GNOME desktop on a deck
wow!
would no. 2 be fixed with
ujust setup-decky simpledeckytdp
?yeah, then you have more control
ok imma try that
there's an option in the tlp decky settings called "Lenovo custom tdp mode", should i enable that, and how do i check the bios version for compatiblity?
You can just check the bios version in the steam system settings in game mode
but note that TDP control != custom fan curves
tbh idek about custom fan curves im a noob at this lol
i just don't want the fans to be all crazy
if you want custom fan curve control, either use handheld daemon's controls, or install https://github.com/aarron-lee/LegionGoRemapper/

in deck mode (gaming mode), the osk likes to show up all of the time, even when i have a keyboard and mouse connected (sounds like a steam bug)i believe this is a steam thing, specifically a gamemode thing
this is by far the biggest issue: when launching cs2 from desktop mode, it works fine for a little bit, but when i enter (so far, only competitive) matches, it likes to disconnect from my dockthe description of this almost sounds like the power adapter cant handle the power draw of the handheld in this game while also supplying power to the dock (but this is just a guess from my side since you said a displayport adapter worked fine)
the wattage of the lgo is 65w iirc, and i have a 67w chargwr and 85w dock
this was never sent??? wtf
i said it was a guess based on the description of your issue, does not mean it is the actual case since i dont know the wattage of the charger and what the dock supported
yeah i was providing that info for ya :3
it was weird bc i sent that message right after getting yours but it never sent
