So what's the tldr on having an animated wallpaper in both DEs? I have an idea. π
I believe KDE supports this as part of their waillpaper engine. I think gnome needs an extension

^although the kde method i linked requires Wallpaper Engine which is a steam application. if there's other ways to have animated wallpapers on kde then that would be better
yeah i think KDE has it built-in now
KImageFormats (which is what Plasma uses to render wallpapers) supports animated wallpapers now
if you want time-sequenced wallpapers (similar to what GNOME can do), you'd want the dynamic wallpapers plugin (which is packaged in Fedora)
