'Baracuta G9 Harrington' going for £100 on Vinted. Never shopped 2nd hand. Advice/tips??
-New to the whole 2nd hand shopping scene.
Just...gives me the icks that someone else wore it...
-As p/your recommendations for 2nd hand Baracuta G9 Harringtons (RRP £360), I've found this one on 'Vinted' for £100.
https://www.vinted.co.uk/items/4355747537-baracuta-g9-harrington-jacket-size-38.
Looks "very good condition", good price (???), and in the colour I want.
I'm only really considering it as some '3rd party companies' that sell Harrington's , make/sell for around £50-£90.
So if I'm going to spend that much (and possibly get length/sleeves hemmed (around £35 maybe) ), I'd be happy to splash the £100~ for legit 2nd hand G9.
-Now, I'd prefer to go into London (not far from me) to try on an actual '38/S' G9 for size, before I throw £100.
Have also bought/tried on '3rd party Harrington's (Real Hoxton, HarringstonStore, BenNevis).
Fit is nice/ albeit long, but I'd still like to try an actual G9 if I plan to buy the Vinted version.
-But the profile has no information/reviews.
What do I need to look out for? Rules to 'follow'?
Do I message the seller to say if he can hold of whilst I try on in store / what is lowest he'd go etc etc?
Thanks for your insight into 2nd hand purchasing!
Baracuta G9 Harrington jacket size 38
Only worn a few times. Slightly too small and would like to replace with a 40.

Have tried to include most relevant info. Sorry it's a bit of a read!
Vinted has pretty good buyer protection so you should be ok on that front.
If it's listed at £100 the seller might take £80 but it's not been for sale for long so they might choose to sit on it.
i've definitely gone in-store to try on something before buying it secondhand.
But £100 barely worn is exactly why we recommend second hand so much. You can always get it dry cleaned or wash it.
in general you're gonna want to know your measurements (chest and sleeve for sure) to compare against the listing. if the seller doesn't list those, you can ask
I can’t imagine it being worth taking a Harrington jacket to a tailor! I have one of those very cheap Harrington and the length is short; shorter than what you get with Uniqlo’s Harrington or Ben Sherman’s Harrington jacket.
Ask for specific measurements (total length, pit to pit, arm length) and then compare with a jacket you already have / like.
that happens; everyone starts somewhere. you should not ask"how low can you go?" instead think about how much you would like to pay (offer that first) and how much you're willing to pay
Also I would say that some brands are quite easy to flip, and Baracuta is one of them. So even if you happen to not like it you can then just sell it on for very little extra effort.
Thanks everyone for the tips/advice, this is amazing!
I guess the official Baracuta site has said masurements, but I can defo ask for the length (which is not online).
@briquebrutale sadly being 5'1 I'd even need to get a Harrington hemmed.
I'v tried on women's and they are shorter and a good fit (just with a T, although a tad snug), but this juicy offer for a legit G9 is tempting.
I'm going to take a very similar Real Hoxton Harrington to my tailor and ask about it in person for hemming.
THe G9 has a double zip (top + bottom) so I'm rather worried about how it'd get hemmed.
New zip perhaps etc etc?
Does 'no reviews/new user (perhaps)' put one off ?
Slightly - but like cdf says, Vinted has great buyer protection
You'd get an automatic refund if they try do some shipping scam thing or you don't receive anything
Just don't do any payment outside the app, etc. etc.
ah ye I guess that is good 😅
Thinking of asking seller these questions (if they are appropriate?):
1) Measurements of garment.
2) More photos (as only 3 so far). Back, all of inside, zooped on wrist collars etc.
3) Willing to go to £80?
4) Very interested, but looking to try actual G9 in store. Can be wait till next week to see if this fits? Then could make offer?
Dont want to come across as pushy, but defo interested!
Don't bother making an offer now if you want to wait a week.
Just ask for measurements and photos
Longer seller sits on it without an offer more willing they might be to make a deal on price.
not necessarily; first time sellers sometimes also price their items very competitively
brill thanks!
