Is the frame rate display of your monitor changing?
no its solid 60
What is the range of this monitor?
@Exceed
40 to 60
avg fps in game is 45
I'm pretty certain both KDE and GNOME have a minimum of 60 built into them
Because you wouldn't want your mouse to be moving slower than that
There's basically no point to vrr at that refresh rate
i mean you say that bu ti can tell a huge difference in windows, its smoother and frame pacing is better
so gnome and kde both work the same way?
yes, IIRC both are 60+ for VRR
because you don't want your mouse moving any slower than that
that sucks, its a 4k monitor and i cant handle high refresh rates at that rez with my card, well thanks for the help
i have another monitor i will test with thats higher than 60, it goes 48 to 100
will let you know results soon
actually nevermind, that one doesnt have an on screen display
rip
I been trying to make VRR work on Gnome but I am very confused if Wayland and GNOME supports it or not and if I use XORG some of my games won't open
Oh don't even go there, don't know how many times I've asked for help with mine, with kde, vrr works but it's stutters and fps graph goes crazy
VRR works on both GNOME & KDE
you can enable it from display settings in both cases
not sure sorry, I don't have an Ally to test against and I can't reproduce on my other VRR supported hardware
This is what happens
When vrr is enabled on game mode
And when did this start happening?
Since the latest update, even if I completed do reformat with usb and download latest, it's the same issue
Seems like a bug
and prior to that, what image were you on?
until this is figured out I'd roll back to that version
Erm not sure, the one before thr latest has same issue, just wanted to point out, Rog ally users are having this issue, had some confirmed users with same fate
Last update to gamescope was 2 days ago, and was a fix of a minor patch for the DeckHD display. Last upstream version change to gamescope was 12 days ago
Last kernel update was 4 days ago
I'll need to know what image works to be able to debug this further
One second, I'll check
"40-20240427" was the last one I used where it worked perfectly
Its not an ally is a regular PC
He's quoting my response dude, dw
Ohh sorry
I did but when I open the games it doesn't work and it has a lot of stuttering with Xorg if I change to Wayland then the game won't open
Nvidia?
Yes
I would try again after the next driver update drops
You won't have the choice to use X11, and that feature should improve
Okay thanks!
Hey everyone! I am not home so I can't test the new nvidia driver. Does anyone having a similar setup with nvidia and gsync monitor. Does it work for you the VRR?
I have a LG UltraGear "FreeSync Premium" one and it works fine with the extended range of 48-144 Hz
busy areas on FFXIV gets me to close 60 Hz or a bit lower
So today I updated my system to the latest version and got nvidia driver updated too. I tested if GSync works but it didn't work. I tested on Wayland Battlefield 1 , Ghost Recon , and Titanfall 2 with Vsync enabled and none of them change the resfresh rate of my monitor to match the games framerate.
Is VRR enabled in the gnome display settings?
There's an issue with GNOME right now where 'Legacy Icon Support' in the AppIndicator extension(which is enabled by default in Bazzite) causes direct scanout - and consequently VRR - to stop working. The workaround is to disable that in the extension settings.
Might not be an issue with most Steam games since it uses the newer KDE-type tray icon, but say Ubisoft Connect, etc. will spawn a legacy one through Wine and make VRR non-functional
Unfortunately that means there will be a little window at the top left corner with those tray icons, better than not having VRR though.
Yes it is.
🤔 oh okay , what if I use KDE? Would that work better?
I would try disabling that first and see if that works
Okay I will try that thank you!
It works now! Thank you so much
No problem
