@Ellis how is the deck on the loki?
The what what what
im making a wiki for each handheld and i want any post-installation steps (i already am aware of some that are universal for every handheld)
like anything you had to do after installing bazzite
that is necessary for every user
may i also use one of the images you posted on the deck server of bazzite running on the loki
you dont have to answer rn or anything
could be anytime you want but id like to get this information out there for everyone else
@Oteresk sorry for the ping too, but can i use your image running bazzite on the legion go that you posted on the deck discord a long time ago
i already know what needs to be done post-installation for that so you don't have to explain that lol
sure, I don't mind
I left deck server but I am positive I know the photo, it's fine lol
nah this was directed towards Ellis
o I misread it, I read lego instead of Loki :clueless:
On the Loki? Adjust my rgb cause it was too bright, and install SimpleDeckyTDP (but that might not be needed anymore in the future?)

HHD?
like what were the
ujust
commands you input?None?
I don’t think
Wait how do I search terminal again I might be able to see if I did anything
But I don’t think I did anything no
ujust
everything works?
controls and all?
wait search the terminal lol
probably your bash history fileYeah lol
Yeah I didn’t do anything after the setup part
oh ok... so it just works out of the box?
oh i found one thing i did
ujust setup-decky simpledeckytdp
god bless ctrl r
thats the only ujust command ive used other than update
lmaoshit thats not bad, this has good support then thank you. can i use the image of the loki you sent in the deck discord that i linked above?
want to have a dedciated wiki for handhelds and first-boot setup
no i want you to use a pink one
it seems your handheld has the least amount of setup
ok whatever works
does it need the bazzite logo visible?
no
it just needs to be running bazzite lol
balatro
okay ill use this then
thank you
Yay Balatro in the wiki
Less than LeGo and Ally?
Also note that mine is a Loki Max with the 6800U
And note that this is the second time installing Bazzite on it as I swapped the SSD
yes
So I would’ve definitely known if there were more steps but I doubt myself quite often
What the heckies
What do those need then?

It says to install HHD there
But HHD was already installed on mine
When I got it
yeah idk how any of these handhelds work
Oh installing the Xbox glyph theme might be a good one to add
Also I personally installed Decky through the initial setup window where you have options to install random things
Well not random
But yeah
I never had to touch ujust for it as result
yeah im talking to the hhd maintainer rn
so it's an optional plugin
It’s optional alright
That means my setup is pretty much on par with this then
yeah it used to be required but since the overlay is here it's optional for those who like decky over the overlay
Minus the HHD-Decky thing this is 100% the same as me
sounds good then
Except I installed Decky through Bazzites installer thing
thank you for this information
Rather than ujust
which works teh same
the portal is a
ujust
GUIYeah I would add that if I were you
at least the first page
ok
What the helly welly
yea
it's also being rewritten now
Uhm either way
Yeah it matches the GPD Win 4 if that wasn’t clear
Minus the known issues
Known issue btw
then ill steal that, clarify the portal = the
ujust
command for decky, and only talk about the RGBI have one for you
ok
The Ayn Loki back buttons cannot be remapped in any way possible
Not on Windows not on Linux
They are hard mapped to L3 R3
That’s a Loki issue though
Not a Bazzite issue
But I though you should know
thats important to note
i note things like that
HHD has it written down somewhere too
the ally can't open the steam keyboard by holding two buttons
it doesnt allow that so i note it
Yep
I’d say the Loki is verified though
As the literal only issue is a hardware issue
Been a month now and no issue
Oh yeah the gyro might be weird but it worked completely fine in steam input so I think that might’ve just been a Ryujinx skill issue
when i get on my desktop later im going to add / fixup the doc. thank you for all the information. the hhd dev is giving me a ton of information about other handhelds too
So I don’t think there’s an issue there
Although in Cemu it worked great
someone tried this with a yuzu fork and thats why i listed that
So probably just me doing something wrong in Ryujinx
Also note that by default in HHD the LEDs are way too bright on the Loki and you need to tone them down in the controller configuration (as a dual sense)
Or that might just be my gamer eyes too adjusted for the dark
The joystick RGB LEDs I mean
Which work great btw
Idk I’m just trying to see if there’s anything
Anything
But no
yeah i can add adjust them with openrgb
Oh yeah I asked someone from the Deck discord to join here cause he has a 7320U Loki
thanks  hopefully when fedora 40 is here, we'll have less issues with handhelds. i fear kde plasma 6 will break nested desktop though since nobara is dealing with that rn
@_pettman
Here
I think
Hi @nickname, what info would you like from me?
hi! ellis gave me most of the information i needed i think, but any issues you run into or anything you have to do for a first-boot setup, let me know
im compiling a wiki for all of the handhelds
(without owning a single one except the deck...)
I had to do this on first boot
Also had to setup KDE Wallet with a password
it still asks for that?! did you make a user account and disable the root account in the installation?
The scaling is way off 😆
sideways screen right?
Correct
yeah that will happen
we've tried fixing that for every device
you can change all of that in the system settings
rotation too, but the rotation default could be changed
let me get @Kyle Gospo here. what do we usually ask for rotation fixes? the dmi?
well either way change the Display and Monitor settings to fix scaling and rotation
at least for yourself until we can figure out how to have that for everyone by defualt (if possible)
gaming mode is not rotated right?
if you got that far yet
ik bazzite portal process is long
Nope, just when booting and desktop is portrait
okay at least gaming mode is fine 🙏
okay let me know anything else you experience, although some if it might be a certified linux experience™️
That was odd. Asked for a language in gaming mode, crashed, rebooted twice and I'm now back in desktop
did anything from the bazzite portal install?
or did that all get lost?
Just tapped return to gaming mode
ok
Which goes right to desktop..
7320U Loki? is that what this is called?
or is a Loki Max or whatever
Mini Pro
Loki Mini Pro i think it's called
okay thank you. are you dual booting?
Nope
sorry im just asking these questions to get any other details
ok
No worries
incredibly crazy to me that ellis can be like the Loki max 6800U works perfectly
then you try and already have issues on first boot 😭
so something with that hardware is funky
return to gaming mode doesn't even work now?
what happens if you logout (not shut down)
Oh here we go
hoping it doesn't fatally crash now
dmi and rotation direction which is correct
Did the initial setup again with just a keyboard connected
does the controls work?
Didn't seem to install anything new before I rebooted
They do
Wireless works fine also
So installing/updating
great! still dont know why it crashed like that but hey thats fine
I wonder if it didn't like the Type-C display being there?
Gaming Mode does not like multi-monitors
actually it doesn't support it at all
but i dont know if it would cause a crash like that
When this is done I will connect it and reboot to see if it goes directly to desktop again
okay (i hope not)
Was duplicating previously, but reinstalled as I couldn't get to desktop mode with the internal panel 🤷♂️
But the USB one is fine
Wanted to take the initial setup out of the equation
fair, you can still try things but eventually can you do me a favor so we can get the default rotation fixed for new users?
Yeah not a problem
enter in the terminal (when you're ready anytime on desktop mode, take your time):
whenever you can no rush now
get it setup for yourself first
oh and you didnt the fix the rotation yet?
do you remember what it was on?
or if it's on the first one, then tell me which rotation setting that works
that puts it correctly
that's probably how it's actually done
Think the first one
yeah it's on that
by default im a little wrong here yea
which setting fixes it?
Noticed this also
it's due to chimera's patch, not much we can do about it being possible but I'll look into it and open a PR if I find something
Gotcha
Okay, I'm in game mode
But have no audio
fun
can you change the audio output or play around with the settings for that?
same way you would change it on deck
Sees it, but nothing
Speakers in my Type-C display work fyi
OH i bet i can guess what happened
steam gaming mode issues™️ since you first booted with speakers in the display, pipewire probably defaulted to that
steam gaming mode goes by pipewire defaults iirc
so you'll have to change the default audio profiles or something in desktop mode
not the best advice to say "mess around with the audio settings" but i have a feeling that is it
UNLESS
i hope it's not audio from the handheld itself
not cooperating
like a driver
but mess around with audio settings in desktop mode first
Desktop mode is now oriented correctly.. with gyro
nice, but what is the correct orientation?
like which setting did that
so we can set that as default
Second
Defaulted to 275% also
Dropped that to 125%
honestly we probably can't fix the default scaling
but that helps with rotation
thanks
No problem
dont need the DMI anymor btw
ignore that command
i got it from someone else
how has audio gone?
iirc you either change the default output or play around with the "profile" settings
one of them
As for the audio, it sees the controller but nothing comes through the speakers or headphone jack
play around with this:
trial and error
im hoping it's not some audio driver issues
That's the same one I see
yeah see that profile dropdown
i think you have to change that to one of those settings
god i forge
people had issues with their TVs using it as HTPC
and it's due to pipewire stuff
Tried with something playing, only works really quietly through the headphones
Any suggestions @nickname?
does desktop mode have sound?
both internally and thru headphones?
Nope
That's where I'm testing now
:clueless: no way
audio driver issue???
Headphones sound like the volume is at 5% 🤣
Nothing through the speakers
whats the sound for both the application and overall output system sound?
with headphones
100%
😭
Same in the browser media player
you can set overamplification to accommodate
but if theres no sounds from the internal speakers
thats kind of lame
Just the headphones are marginally louder but distorted
yeah distortion happens with overamplification lol
So yah, no usable audio currently
this is silly stuff
what kind of audio nonsense does the mini pro use but the max works fine???
Is has its own driver package
I'll have a look
also read:

in the meantime, if you don't find information about the driver (and be careful messing with things yourself)
open an issue on our github
i will get the rotation fixes PR'd
yeah def do what i said about the github issue
at least we can track it and others can be like "me too"
Will do, just checking a few things
apperciate the reporting, going to add this information to the wiki tonight
No problem
The drivers seem different..
yup
annoying
Need the hardware and ostree info filled in on the issue?
yeah
although obviously we know
but it'll be better for new users to know that it's a fresh installation
Cool, getting
thank you
Done
thank you. a shame it didn't work 😔
No worries
All good
Can still see what the device is capable of with linux
Quarter of a Deck in theory 🤷♂️
The accelerometer has a mind of its own, keeps flipping the display when entering desktop mode
📝 so far this experience is much worse than the loki max
should be fixed in the newest update
desktop mode rotation that is
Cool
Let me know if you would like anything more testing, I will be keeping Bazzite on the Mini Pro
will do! i don't really have anything specific right now especially since it's a bummer that the audio is broken. however if you can confirm that desktop mode is fixed now in the latest update, i'd appericiate it. you update in gaming mode the same way that you do in steamOS or in desktop mode using the system update application. it may take a while
Will give it a go later
Hmm @nickname, stable isn't seeing any updates
go into desktop mode and click this:
system updates
That's where I am
Just updated flatpaks
@nickname last stable build was 4 days ago
testing is newer if you want to rebase
oh im always assuming it builds after every update
i added the rotation fix for _pettman's handheld
not even i know whats going on in the project 😭
nevermind

silly me, we obviously can't build it every single day 😄
ok so eventually this will be fixed _pettman on the next build
as for this suggestion, you could, but im not sure if it will fix your audio issues and cause other problems
however this is good for testing
to pin your current deployment to get back to this in case
:testing
is awful
and then enter:
wait for it to finish (takes a long time and no progress bar)
then reboot and you'll be on our testing channelRunning
Rebooted and weirdly enough RGB now works
But unsure if uninstalling OpenRGB sorted that
dont think that was the case
Glyphs are also PS instead of Xbox
Oh! The right fuction button is also working
thats normal
ah ok
Yeah, controller is now a DualSense
yup
you can get xbox buttons back
hold on

you may have to do most of it
Have decky installed already so will add the CSS loader theme
yup
then you need to install the ps5-to-xbox theme so you get your xbox glyphs back
there might be a theme specifically for your handheld/loki too
idk
we usually recommend this since it's a built-in command
CSS loader is already installed and applied, will go to desktop mode when an update is finished
Hmm I'll see
yeah
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
oh btw
the update timer is made up
that progress bar is fake
we can't hook up
rpm-ostree
into steam gaming mode especially since rpm-ostree
doesn't have a progress indicatorOrientation starts correct and flips 180..
oh it flips switching into desktop mode?
wait it flips after a while
Yup, is fine for a few seconds
open system settings > display and monitor > take a pic/screenshot of the orientation settings
it's the 4 monitors
Desktop mouse is also no longer working with the controller..
is steam running?
It is
this is some cursed stuff
The key combo to switch the hardware mode also isn't recognised by the OS even though there is a vibration for it enabling
wait
when i said follow my guide
did you do any of that yet
dont do it
let me read
Which bit?
actually that wouldnt matter for now
is this touch screen?
Oh I did all that in stable
Worked fine
ok
are you able to open the KDE menu?
Yeah the screen is fine
ok
open kde menu > all applications
is handheld daemon installed?
Huh. the mouse works fine for a second
And yes
ok thats good
i dont know whats going on in desktop mode though
was this the first time you switched to desktop mode in
:testing
Yup
thats a yikes for multiple reasons
can you do this?
maybe 90 degree rotation is wrong
is the orientation just like it was previously
like on first-boot
90 clockwise is correct
yeah this is bizarre
i set it to that
It changes to anticlockwise after initialising :PajamaKid:
well that's a shame
how is the audio
not there?
probably :d
Nope..
Also
:FlippingTable:
really bad time to watch that video
my internet is doing poorly
is it stuck at switching to desktop mode
Nope
thats what i get from the first 4 seconds before buffering
Shows the orientation bug
ah ok ill see what happens
LOL
hmm
the fact it was right then rotated leads me to believe the rotation script isn't needed for this handheld
but didnt you say yesterday in stable it wasn't correct either
hmm let me confirm something
Yeah
Did the same thing
But initially was portrait, then I guess the gyro kicked in
oh lol
thats interesting
BUT
It now looks like your script is causing this to happen as if I set it manually it flips
As you see in the video
must be the wrong orientation i set it to
So you think your change is applying 90 anticlockwise
time to figure out which one this is
prob
kscreen-doctor output.1.rotation.right 2>&1
It shows clockwise
yeah the script doesnt use clockwise/counter-clockwise
it's KDE's naming stuff
Any command I can run?
let me try myself
yup
try
kscreen-doctor output.1.rotation.right
Flipped
which way
lol
is it normal or
Upside down
ha
⁉️
kscreen-doctor output.1.rotation.left
oh you know what
that makes sense actually
try that other command
That's it
well it's not
see i think i understand whats happening
So the bottom of the screen is on the right..
taskbar?
that can be moved
No sorry, I mean physically
im going to need more pictures
for now im going to revert the script
Don't worry, just trying to figure out what left or right means in the command
i think it actually rotates
depending on where you are
positon/orientation wise
but
i dont understand this
because now your screen is normal at startup then flips
so i might revert it
Sure it doesn't mean left or right from the normal orientation?
idk
it might
can i ask one question
before you moved to testing
and the orientation was correct
did it move
or was it already like that from the start
like i saw in the video, it was normal then it flipped
Same as the video I think
lol wait so it was actually normal then it flips
for both cases
Initial install was portrait 😌
like installer or?
first-boot?
Yah
installer being portrait is normal
first-boot no
I thought you where making a change for that which could also effect desktop mode
My bad
i am
Right
ok because im not equipped to really understand what this rotation goofy stuff does on KDE... i dont think GNOME has this issue actually?
Thought I was taking you down the wrong path
but im going to revert my commit
Sure
Shall I move back
Or did you want to try a few other things
would you consider this stable?
the MOTD is missing in the terminal
ik thats a known issue
but like everything else
newer stuff is going to be in
:testing
first
but
if you want to revertJust the mouse in desktop mode is broken
oh right
yeah you can revert
to do that
you reboot and show GRUB
and thats probably the "B" button?
unless you have a physical keyboard
then it's the esc key
then you select the previous entry
Oh so you don't use the command to move back
Got it
OH
well
yea
you could do that too
this would be faster because it's pinned
but you can rebase back the same way by replacing
:testing
with :stable
anyways thanks for testing. i thought the rotation fix would work, so it's either the wrong way or something idk. audio seems way more important rn
i wish i owned a handheld that wasnt only the deck
sometimes its like working blindlyI will keep as is, I imagine the mouse issue is on the list also?
im not even sure whats happening with that but ill let the maintainers/contributors know
Sure
It's the virtual and hardware mouse
BOTH?
Mhm
Both where fine in stable
I have the ayaneo 7320u variant on my way, already expecting no sound too, known issue with linux drivers not enabling it
However I think there are multiple chromebooks with that chip, so I'll look around to see if there's quirks for it
Check https://github.com/WeirdTreeThing/chromebook-linux-audio/blob/main/setup-audio it installs a firmware for Mendocino audio, not sure what bazzite's policy would be about that but maybe something to explore
GitHub
chromebook-linux-audio/setup-audio at main · WeirdTreeThing/chromeb...
Script to enable audio support on many Chrome devices - WeirdTreeThing/chromebook-linux-audio
so is there confirmation this works for this device
oh this is specfically for chromebooks
I have no confirmation of any sort for now, expecting the device early next week and will start investigation. It's also possible the loki mini pro has different sound hw than the ayaneo 7320u... We'll see. I won't pollute the wiki thread so will open a #bazzite-help topic and work with whomever is interested
you coud add it here but if you want to open your own thread thats fine
thanks for doing this 🫡
From what I see the device has an awinic aw87xx sort of power amplifier with integrated dsp. I believe it's the culprit. And it probably uses a blob for initialisation... So that sucks.
Ping if you would like anything checked @citral 👍
How's the sound on headphones, if there's any?
Basically nothing
I have a tiny tiny amount
openend a thread in help about it, may or may not apply to the ayn
As before, let me know if you want anything checking
Check if you have sound on headphones enabling speakers in alsamixer, works for me
Then the master volume still adjusts it
Just seen that 3.0 is out and it mentions Loki Max Pro, is this a typo?

Didn't know there was a Max Pro
Just got round to testing this, it only shows 'Pipewire' and is no different from the system controls
lol nice catch
there isnt
antheas!!!!!
haha
I would maybe add a note there for audio @nickname, mine doesn't work with 3.0
wait what device do you have
The Mini Pro
When did you last test?
yeah that's not supported
Yesterday
I found a valve-oops mid-day yesterday w/ pipewire configs
loki max and loki zero
their steamdeck-dsp package overrides the pipewire config with a jupiter-specific one as the default
nah kyle this is due to the driver most likely
ok, making sure
pettman tested this long ago
Have you guys been able to get any further with this?
i dont think anything will happen this year sadly
😔
Chimeraos has been able to load the audio "firmware" over i2c, which just actually writes some registers so could be done in driver, but there's a regression that prevents reading/writing to i2c values on that bus atm
Have not tried on bazzite yet though
No free time in sight personally
Ah okay, I may swap back to windows and can test a new build when you have one
Unless there is anything you would like from the device prior?
