Amazon sells suede cleaning kits. Mine came with a brush like a toothbrush and something like a rubber eraser.

Is it better to just stick with a cleaning kit properly or cleaning it with something at home might do the trick is what I was wondering
Try brushing it with a (clean) old toothbrush.
Or a (dirty) new toothbrush if you're feeling adventurous
