The Perfect Fit - Topic of the day 3/31/24
How meticulous are you about how your clothes fit? Do they need to be the 'right' measurements for you? Or is it all just vibes. Is there even such a thing as a perfect fit?

I don't mind my clothes being oversized bc I want a chill vibe
I have XL stuff (M) that are definitely in the questionable size category but having baggy pants kinda negates it
Too big I can work with (I think). Too small not so much
Unless it's shoes or boots, they need to be the right size
i dont even check the measurements half the time
vibes all the way
but also knowing which brands you can vibe and which are demanding is important
The risk of something being too small is too high for me to not check measurements
But generally its vibes
Im more precise w my tailored jackies but thats about it
I use a laser level to perfectly crop my tanks
i think there's a definite hard line to where something is too tight or too small to the point where it's uncomfortable looking or feeling
but otherwise it's a matter of vibes and the fit itself
I think my aversion to sizing incorrectly is why none of my pants are sized by wrist and why I dress very casually lol
Like it's just easier to wear what I do
Like I got 18east pants L they don't technically fit but I can tie the drawstrings tight asf
Needles is S but I let out the drawstring to the max
I definitely don't like things to be MacGregor-level fitted but I do stay in decent shape so I don't mind a slimmer silhouette. I do have a good amount of looser clothes as well but I like the bigger stuff to look intentional and not like I'm wearing someone else's clothes that are just too big for me.
for pants, i want them to fit a certain way so i just make sure theyre not too slim and compare with the pants I currently have. for tops im more lax. if theyre labeled small by the brand more often than not, theyre going to fit. i get more technical when im sizing up. so it looks like im wearing oversized intentionally.
same!
i will say the only time 'vibes' go out the window is with suiting; having a short torso and long arms means i take a lot more time to find properly fitted sportcoats and dress shirts
or i just call it a thom browne homage
I think I'm very much a perfect fit kinda buy.
But this sub is opening my eyes about thing not needing to fit perfectly.
Somewhat looser/ or slight drop shoulder etc etc is alright!
If shopping online, I pay attention to measurements to make sure something isn’t too small, but after that it’s vibes.
No perfect fit survives the winter bulk
or summer cut :keepincool:
Basically if you go gym you can never have a constant perfect fit/size of clothes 🥲
depends on what your opinion of a "perfect fit" is tbh. If you're looking for form-fitted then you're always going to be updating your wardrobe.
for me it's v much vibes. I swing between a 2xl-4xl for tops and 38-40 for bottoms, so ofc thats a consideration, but I have bottoms tagged as 36 and tops tagged as XL that still get wear so it's a decent range.
I only check measurements if it might be too small, if it's too big I can still put it on
still thinking about my cdg lace shirt tagged m but had 14 inch shoulders 😭
Deliberately don’t measure stuff. I’ll wear stuff that’s significantly too large for me.
I think you gotta if it’s about drape
For me having clothes that fit well is a major motivation for being here
I'm ok with baggy, boxy, drapey, whatever, but the clothes have to fit. I don't want to just buy things that are 2 sizes too big, unless I plan to have them altered
I don't like clothes that don't fit. If they don't fit they do t feel like they are mine.
same
i think we've also collectively been stunlocked by the idea that fit is king without consideration of what type of fit you're trying to achieve
