Fresh Install HTPC Not Booting Into Game Mode
Hey all! I’m new to Bazzite and wanted to install it to my minisforum AMD pc. Installation went great and I selected the options to ensure Steam Game mode was installed and would also open at boot.
Well post installation it boots to GNOME but it never goes into the steam gaming mode nor do I see how I could switch to it. Should I just reinstall it or is there something I can do to enable/fix it?

i had the gaming mode opening with KDE if that can help 🤔
sooo, maybe check that as the last resort 🤔
Good suggestion! This is what I was debating on doing next. I’ll give it a shot later. Thank you!
Unfortunately it didn’t work. 😦
I think I found the issue.
@Bazzite Maintainer I dunno if this is the issue but I noticed while downloading that the package doesn't change.
This is "No" Gaming Mode
This is "Yes"
The packages are the same unlike the desktop one.
I noticed gaming mode packages have "deck" in the name.
ooo nice find i was about to submit changes for the website but i'll send the PR for this real quick too
i do have to wait for kyle to merge them though
nice catch
Thanks! Yeah I thought it was super weird because I didn't even get the "Return to Game Mode" options. It's like it was totally omitted and now it makes sense why/how. Glad to hear it'll get resolved. 😄
to confirm this actually
can you send the output of
rpm-ostree status
also i cant seem to reproduce this... what did you select? above "gaming mode"
outside of GNOME
OH i see
htpcYep! One moment and these were my selections:

This is now when I switched to KDE hoping it'd work so it won't be the Gnome version.
yup i see the issue
HTPC gives the desktop ISOs
obviously that's not right lol
thanks for highlighting all of this
Glad the issue wasn't between the chair and computer on my end. 😂 lol! Also you're welcome! Thanks for all the work your team does.
okay so the issue is that kyle made this website and hosts the ISOs himself
you pinged all the maintainers so he'll see this here eventually
but since it's a holiday here it might not today
Understood, thank you!
Thanks, great catch
I'll figure out what's up with this combo tonight
In the meantime are you good to go? All Rebased from the incorrect ISO?
Yep all set and functional now, yay! Thank you! 😄
