The Hero's Journey - Topic of the day 3/30/24
Topic message: In the hero's journey story archetype we usually see a 'return' to where our hero began the story, except now they have become more powerful, or know more stuff, or something like that. Have you experienced a similar 'return' in your own personal style journey? Or are you in a completely different place than where you began?

No
I think I've gotten better at what I originally liked (streetwear) and have increasingly dabbled with colors and qualities like silhouette, but I think there's a lot more waiting for me over the next few years as I hone in on myself as a person
I'm in a completely different place, but like in the abyss/challenges and temptations phase sort of way
Ethan has a great article about liking the same things but executing better. I still like big boots, black pants, cool belts, among other things. But my style is completely different. Never would have seen myself wearing cargos for example.
I’m still being challenged and tempted
(I’m easily tempted)
I like blue sneakers. https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1135916565183856660/1222900507694075964
Yeah I still like a lot of the same things I liked when I was in elementary school, I just dress better and also am open to more new things
I have liked red since I was a little kid, but I wasted so many years afraid to wear it. I'm making up for that now.
Hell yeah
I am wearing the shit I wanted to wear in 2013 and I am happy with that
don't let ur dreams be dreams etc
the style path loosely went trad/vaguely prep in middle school - graphic tees - trad in obnoxious colors- black tees and such (COVID) - mod lol - ivy/vaguely prep but in better and cooler clothes
My path was slim fit minimalism (because that's what the guides said) -> relaxed fit workwear (because that's what the guides said) -> slim fit minimalism (because I like it)
It will be interesting to see where the cycle goes from here, does it tend to repeat?
My path went from me buying and wearing whatever the hell I liked at op shops, to being told that I need to look more cohesive... To wearing blue jeans and white t-shirt basically all the time... To now wearing more things that I like but also, lots of white t-shirts.
