Thoughts on Aurora Shoe Co? And trying to decide which color...

I kind of love these ugly little guys and was considering getting them as a sort of Birkenstock replacement for the summer. I know a few of you wear them -- was hoping to get some thoughts from the community at large. If I were to get them I'm not sure whether I should go black or brown. I guess brown feels a little more safe and versatile to me, but black feels a little cooler and more interesting. Only thing is I'm a white dude who doesn't exactly tan and worry the black might be hard for me to pull off if I wore them with shorts. Let me know what you think!
