I've got the speaker / headphones side figured with the makerhart audio mixer but not the microphone side
Currently using a bunch of bluetooth bose speakers but feel that's too risky

Although it was in request to my similar question, looking at it, this is also for headphones, damn. So, no, this doesn't seem to help w/ microphones ugh

This unit is literally around 4 inches wide and can fit in any backpack or small carrying case. It's use is as simple as it come - there is no power supply needed. Had it out of the box and working perfectly in 3 minutes. Just plug in from your mixer (1/4" audio line) to the input and and plug out to (up to) 4 sets of speakers from the 4 outputs - all with separate volume controls for zoning.from amazon review

Hey guys, thanks for replying. I've bought some mixers and microphones online and am testing things out. One question I had was around the 3.5mm microphone input jack for the mixer. Most of the microphones I've seen don't seem to have 3.5mm microphone input jacks (they do have 3.5mm headphone output jacks). How do you connect the microphone to the mixer if you can't use 3.5mm?
ambitious-aqua•9mo ago
For example, the Yeti mic https://a.co/d/90prXJn product you shared doesn't appear to have a 3.5mm microphone input jack

Do you have to use a USB to 3.5mm converter?
metropolitan-bronze•9mo ago
metropolitan-bronze•9mo ago
I have the yeti USB to my personal machine and the 3.5mm out to the input @ little bear
ambitious-aqua•9mo ago
I see--so even though there's a headphones icon next to the 3.5mm jack, you can treat it as a microphone input jack? And then the USB connection to your personal machine is only for getting power to the microphone, while audio input goes through the 3.5mm port?
metropolitan-bronze•9mo ago
the headphone icon tells you audio is coming out from there, so do with it what you will
usb connection powers the mic yes, but I use it on my personal machine too. so what you see above is 4 mic inputs
I would note that for the yeti mic to work you can't just plug the USB into a power brick, it needs data--not sure if that's stated somewhere but if you read a bit or watch videos you'll find out anyway

Gotcha, thanks. I tried doing that with a HyperMX mic (usb to personal computer and 3.5mm to work laptops)(https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NZZZ746?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) but my work laptops didn't detect the microphone through the 3.5mm port, will try with the yeti microphone

What cable are you using to connect the mic and work laptop? Sometimes that happens when you're one with the 2 stripes as opposed to 3.
If you're already using the right cable I highly recommend using the usb-c splitter instead of the 3.5mm port on your laptop
ambitious-aqua•9mo ago
The attached schematic is what I'm doing--it's a series of 3.5 mm cords. On the microphone side, I've also tested stripping everything down to just one 3.5 mm cord without the other mixers / switches without success.
Can you clarify what you mean by 2 stripes vs. 3? What do you mean by stripe?
Thanks fo the usb-c splitter rec--what are the benefits there vs a 3.5 cord splitter?

"Stripe" reference:

usb splitter is just a personal rec because it's what I use and is working.
Schematic is good and all but the details of the cables matter

Ah did not know the 3.5mm tip matters. I got on a call with HyperX support, and it looks like the 3.5 mm jack itself doesn't support 3-tip 3.5mm connectors, which could also be an issue.
I really appreciate you taking the time to explain this--I'll copy your setup and go from there
@al @Bartleby the Scrivener Hey guys just wanted to say I got the microphone set up working perfectly and really appreciated your help; saved me a ton of time of having to repeatedly buy and return tech from Amazon
