That’s a long resume for 4 yoe Shorten down to 1 page. No recruiter going to read through all that.===============
1. 1 page resume for 4 YOE. 2. Remove fancy font, images etc. ATS cannot comprehend those. 3. Add data points. What did you accomplish, for as many bullets as possible===============
Too much info and useless content, I wanted to close my browser halfway through your endless skill list. You dont HAVE to list every single piece of tech you ever touched, more than half of your resume is going to be boring for every single recruiter which means you will lose 100% of them.===============
Shrink your resume. I have 8 yoe and can fit everything into one page. Why do you need 2 pages -> replied: How? Do you only highlight few top things for each job?===============
- 1 page - not 2! - Each job should have like 3-4 most impactful points - For skills - don’t list all OSes in Linux. Just say Linux, Windows, Nokia, Android - Remove other software & tools sections. - Each of the points in the skills section shouldn’t cross more than one line. - Remove the company logos. It looks tacky - Remove the certificate badges. Waste of space - Your email is too long. So is your LinkedIn URL link. Consider using a shorter version of your name for both. When applying formally you can use your legal name. - Remove relevant courses from Canadian university. Not relevant at all as you now have work experience - Same for Indian university - I would say remove your projects as you have enough professional experience content. Your resume has too much un-necessary BS. No one cares about half the stuff you write. When you have no professional experience you can put fluff. Now that you actually have experience, list out the impactful things.===============
Waaay too long for 4 YOE and 4 companies. Shorten by: General - Can make header smaller by doing three columns if needed - Remove all photos/fancy text. Irrelevant for ATS. Put certs under Honors/Awards if necessary. Profile: Remove. Skills -> Highlighted Skills: Only include skills from job posting if not already in a bullet poijt in work experience Work Experience: 0-5 bullet points each. Only include points where you can quantify impact. Mine has on avg 2 per position. Responsibilities and skills developed are irrelevant to an employer, especially on a resume, if impact is unclear. Education: Remove relevant courses Proffesional / Academic Projects: If it can’t go in work experience for an employer, remove it. This probably means remove this section entirely. Papers/Awards/Achievements: Only list these here or under the relevant experience, not both. Either highlight them in their respective sections, or put them here. Extra-Curricular: Remove.

using MS Office suite as a skill always sends me
I will say, the Cloud Engineer one seems super vague, nothing specific in it, nor any milestones/achievements

So many conflicting opinions
In this discord people advise shoving as many keywords
So length gets longer.
I don't really think any recruiter is actually reading anyone's entire resume. It's time consuming
vicious-gold•8mo ago
well we somewhat agreed (not as a community but as a consensus) that you would want two
one "star" resume
other-emerald•8mo ago
I don't think it's conflicting at all
vicious-gold•8mo ago
and one for the magnet rseume
other-emerald•8mo ago
ATS resume you would keyword stuff
vicious-gold•8mo ago
magnet resumes are completely a different use case
^ such as the ATS resumes
and c2c LLC resumes
if im applying to Meta, I am not using an ATS resume
national-gold•8mo ago
So applying through linked in I use ats resume and if direct to recruiter I don't use ats resume?
Does meta not use ats?
vicious-gold•8mo ago
i mean, it dpeends on which job at linkedin?
if its a really good wlb job
where the team is small-ish and good pay
and the HM reads the resume
im not using the magnet resume
even if it "goes through ATS"
anthropic uses an ATS, but i am not risking that opportunity on a magnet resume cause they pay 450k for L5
national-gold•8mo ago
What about meta makes it different?
Or anthropic
vicious-gold•8mo ago
they pay a lot
and a huge resume is more likely to get tossed
national-gold•8mo ago
The line feels a lot more blurred honestly
I cold emailed a meta recruiter my ats resume to a meta recruiter
And she responded
vicious-gold•8mo ago
anecdotes
i think we mentioned 1 purge ago where
you can submit two of the exact same resumes
and they'd get completely different results
there isn't a one size fit all
national-gold•8mo ago
Wait I'm lying
Out of my ass
I sent a one pager
Just rechecked
Yea
So when would I actually use an ats resume?
vicious-gold•8mo ago
most dice jobs where the LLC is no-name
a recruiter from teksystems, kforce, insight global where they submit to a central db
half of indeed listings
national-gold•8mo ago
Ooooh
vicious-gold•8mo ago
i mean
people are in different stages in their hiring
there are people who
ONLY apply at the top 100 paying companies on levels.fyi
and there are people whof eel like they can enever get there so they apply to everything
national-gold•8mo ago
So my understanding is if you are applying directly to a company then use 1 pager regardless if they use an ATS or not.
Then use ATS resume for those third party recruiting companies like Teksystems.
What are your thoughts on using something like jobalytics to key word match on a 1 page resume then to pass the ATS phase?
vicious-gold•8mo ago
i haven't used it but if its the same as jobscan its probably worth it
national-gold•8mo ago
Got it
