Assessing a Wardrobe
Hi there folks. I've read that it is good to see what you already have on your wardrobe before making new purchases. I think this sounds a little stupid but I've been wondering if there's a more or less efficient way to do that. How do you do it?

I'm mad extra so I went through the work of making a spreadsheet
It doesn't actually help me visualize my wardrobe but I can check it if I'm trying to visualize it and I'm not sure if I'm forgetting something
I was thinking if making a spreadsheet would be too much lol
I guess a more applicable advice would be if you're considering a piece, how does it overlap with what you have
Like if you're buying a new knit just think about your preexisting knits and go from there
Like I want those wide pants in black but I already have baggy black pants so I rather get it in green, bc I do have green pants but they're straight fit
So for me that'd be adding to my options rather than overlapping with what I already have
Color, silhouette, whatever
I've been wanting cardigans lately but I tend to wear cardigans or flannels so that means I'm gonna phrase out my flannels if I'm gonna buy more cardis
Damn word salad gg
What I've been thinking about recently is that I should probably get clothes fitted to me when shopping. Trying to find clothes that are my size off-the-rack is a very stressful endeavor, and manual labor is pretty cheap on my country but importing is expensive.
Sounds random but since I'm small and lean, frequently I shopped at sizes meant for teens
so my wardrobe is pretty saturated with graphic t-shirts and the color blue, in a glance
i take fitpics consistently; usually i'll post to #waywt as an implicit barometer of how good a fit is but having the pics in one album at the very least can show pieces i'm not wearing or potential holes
that said i too use a spreadsheet lol
Spreadsheets good
There are some apps out there to help too
I used to use stylebook, looking into Whering which seems much better
I wanna try Whering as well
Necrobump pretty much but as I dug around my wardrobe, I found a lot of long-sleeved button-downs that are too small to wear properly but can be worn as outerwear if unbuttoned. Should I just sell these pieces to get more well-fitting ones? They're all pretty low use anyway, some of them never worn.
if you enjoy the look of an open button down then keep them, otherwise you lose a lot of utility if you're not able to wear it closed
Iād yeet em
Donate or sell, buy ones you like open and closed or buy pieces more intentionally for outerwear (I have 2 oversized shirts I use for both)
