moving here not to clutter!
Oki! <3
I plan to use one with my steam deck cuz i've seen vids of people using it like that and honestly, it seems amazing for my particular use case
Basically - keys would get stuck on the keyboard pretty frequently, and I was blessed (lol) with a unit that was faulty. It powered itself on without the power button being pressed down, I'm unsure why
so this lead to the battery being dead every time I went to use it
Could also be stuck button issue
Not every unit will have this issue but just be prepared to pay attention to stuff if you were to get one
possibly, I ended up just RMA'ing it and getting my money back
spent on a cheap thinkpad and came up with a software solution to integrate my android phone like I wanted
now - for a steam deck? I think it would work great.
Android doesn't support being used in a desktop mode very well, it just wasn't made for all that
Lots of people said that trackpads are trash, but only in the reviews when people used dex. Nothing for deck
Yeah so there's one big thing Android lacks - software palm rejection for touchpads
So that's why theres so many complaints about it
and yeah, already got 4 PCs and i do not want a 4th one. I jsut want a nice trackpad, keyboard and screen to sit on discord and browse web when not at home. Since steam deck is already on me when I am out - seems perfect
also very happy with steam deck performance as my desktop since i used it for like ~a month before I got my Legion GO
for real its perfect for simple stuff + light gaming as it does
I used it as my only PC for a couple month period last year and since I'd been dailying linux for a few years it was really clean
and then switching it to Bazzite gnome only made me love it more
perfect for the use case you say
Oh hell yeah, tbh tempted to get bazzite on my deck for waydroid
waydroid is pretty nice for watching content imo
streaming apps, youtube, etc
steam deck isn't the prettiest display around but its big!
and if you play mobile games you can run those too
So yeah, waiting for lapdock
Only issue is the fact that they didn't have 13.3inch model in stock, offered me an upgrade and then didn't have the upgrade in stock either
oof
could check second-hand on reddit hardwareswap or ebay or somethin
but theres not a lot of them out in the wild
tbh i am not seeing how it's less portable if you just get like a 1m cable and keep the deck in the backpack, lmao
I live in tiny european country, so that's not rlly gonna work
ic ic
also most of them are prob in usa and the import taxes can raise price by like 50%, reason why i skipped on nexdock since they only ship out of america w/ no special things setup for EU so import taxes 📈 and ur wallet 📉
thats obnoxious dang
It's not a big deal since all the places usually have all of the import setup so it's just like buying local, even stuff like aliexpress has it done
yeah any company worth their salt would have that, nexdock is really small I'd think
what lapdock are you looking at since its not Nex? Only other I can think of is Uperfect
Ngl, nexdock doesn't look like they make their own stuff
they don't haha
since their lapdocks look like any others
so quality is gonna be the same
yeah, uperfect
yeah expectations would be about the same IMO
keyboard and touch pad are gonna be like a 5/10 - good enough when away from home for sure
I'll see how it works with the deck and maybe legion go
i highly doubt that legion go would even be worth using like that
