Advices for a Portable Computer for Development in C and other languages under Ubuntu
Hey everyone !
I don't know if it's the right place to ask this but :
I am going to begin school soon and I am going to do development mostly in C, but I am also going to develop in more common and recent languages on side.
I will NOT do anything that needs MANY resources like 3D render, neural networks development etc... but it need to be powerful enough to be fluent and not interrupt my workflow.
I am going to put it under Ubuntu immediately and i don't need dual boot or anything, 100% Ubuntu (I use this distro since it's the one of my school, not my choice).
I already have my keyboard and my mouse so don't need to focus on these since i'll not use em.

do you have a budget?
I'd say 300€ maybe more maybe less, i don't know
I just don't know much about different brands and which is good which is bad for portable computers, I know better components manufacturers for custom builds
well you're gonna have to consider your requirements, is gaming needed? what about battery life? are you ok with carrying a charger everywhere? what about sizes? 13in, 14in, 15in, bigger?
Not that big because it's to bring at school everyday, and same for the battery life, needs to be awake on battery at least 5h-6h, and for the usage, as i said no need for big performance in terms of 3D Modelling etc... neither Gaming, it's only for development, I have my custom build for most "needy" tasks

It's not that important of a concern for me honestly, there's plugs everywhere in school, but at least 3h is good

if you want to look for yourself you can search for this:
- Processor: at least intel i3 or amd ryzen 3, the higher the number the better i3/i5/i7
- Graphics: since you're not doing 3d or gaming this doesn't matter much, integrated is fine
- RAM: 8gb is kinda decent but I would strongly suggest 16GB
